AIO's fill an important niche where cable management is a problem. Because they have no cables (other than a power cord) they can be setup on open tables. A lot of the time companies buy laptops is for just this reason: aesthetics.
The HP EliteOne enterprise-grade AIO's are incredibly popular machines in hospitals and many Fortune 500 environments, and traditionally the Envy line is based on the internals of the Elite models, usually nixing TPM and IME, and possibly the MXM slot as the Geforce 1050 is likely soldered to the mainboard in this model like previous Envy AIO's.
It's worth pointing out that Lenovo also made a decent ThinkStation M AIO for awhile. Per usual they undercut HP on price by a not so negligible margin, hence Lenovo often outselling HP world-wide. But they have not refreshed the M series in over a year and I do not think it is a successful product for Lenovo in enterprise because these days you are seeing less and less Lenovo in enterprise.
Pretty decent. PC of comparable spec, a TP-link USB wireless adapter and an AOC 27" 2k monitor is around 1200 USD? And that is not accounting for the touch screen, the speakers and the much more premium casing. Lets see if it has a video in.

Permanently attaching a monitor to a computer seems kinda dumbThe day after the warranty ends and the monitor fails, then what?
Leave a broken monitor on the desktop and plug in another ?
Is the computer user serviceable ?
Can I pull the hard drive out ?
Can I add 32GB Ram ?
Add an "internal" SSD ?
Complain endlessly ?
Oh yeah, I got that one!

"Permanently attaching a monitor to a computer seems kinda dumb"Do you also complain about laptops and tablets with - gulp - integrated displays?
"Is the computer user serviceable ?"
Hard to say since this is just an announcement but the earlier models have had user upgradeable CPU, memory and storage.

Have you never seen an all-in-one before? They're not new and you don't need to worry that traditional desktops are going to go away.Samus - Monday, May 14, 2018 - link

And oddly you can never find a touchscreen of that size sold as an independent monitor.hanselltc - Wednesday, May 16, 2018 - link
