    I suspect noone actually pays the list prices of mobile chips. And usually the prices don't make much sense, with everything costing just the same.

    This is mostly a refresh with more cores in the i5 and up. Most of the plans were in place prior to the flaws becoming news. Expect real architecture fixes Q4 2018 and later. For now it's on the software, compiler, and OS developers to lock down code that needs it.

    There is no one defining characteristic, because they're purely marketing terms and the meaning changes from one power tier to the next and one generation to the next.
