It would be nice if Supermicro made a 1P Epyc consumer mobo.

I don't think anyone is making such a board, though it looks like Supermicro does at least have a few single EPYC processor options, just a bit pricey...

what gets my goat is that all epyc MBs are hobbled. this has only 1 DPC and does not use all the PCIe lanes of the processor either.

The 18 core Skylake X cpu has been shown to draw nearly 500W by itself when overclocked. Perhaps that's what they are referencing, that it can handle OCed cpu's? I just don't see Intel releasing a cpu that's 250-300w stock tdp. That'd be quite a reversal with amd which used to be known for blistering tdp's.

One extreme overclocker even observed 1000W CPU power consumption on the CPU 12V rail (!) from a 7980XE with extreme cooling. Link: https://youtu.be/rEdXayoA1Es?t=499

There are some rumors about AMD readying a 32 core Threadripper, perhaps Intel is gearing up for that.

I've always wondered if amd would bring what is essentially a full epyc cpu to the enthusiast market. I doubt there's any reason they can't physically do it other than market/product segmentation.

Maybe TR32 will come with ZEN2 and 7nm process. TDP will be same like of its predecessor.

    Zen2 TR 24cores 7nm 2019
    Zem3 TR 32cores 7nm+ 2020

In both cases, it is relatively soon. Prosumers will smear slices with good processors at ... affordable prices.

Next year with Zen2, TR will be updated to 24cores, intel should prepare.

They should make some kick ass X470 & X399/X499! for Ryzen too..

300W - 1 8-pin EPS??? Not terribly useful for pretty much any OC. If it signals some new chips coming out, that might be interesting, but not with this MB...

Oh, the other one is under tape... oops... 2x8pin EPS - now that's more like it....
