Considering that the Xeon D 15XXN chips that supposedly launched in Q3’17 are still vaporware I won’t be holding my breath for the second gen Xeon D’s.

I suspect you'll find them being used at certain specific companies for the initial ramp up

But I want one NOW!!! (Throws temper tantrum)

C3000 solutions aren't fully available. 8th gen Core T editions aren't announced/released not that it matters since the only motherboards available are z370.

These are trying times for x86 networking junkies.

Ian, "The first generation launched in November 2015" - wasn't it MARCH 2015?

Announcement vs actual release. I was unsure which one to quote there

Xeon-D is pretty damn good of a product I wonder if they will have 25Gbps Ethernet as Standard next year.

    OMG this is awesome...
    I have a C2758 router
I need a Xeon-D 16core for a business security system, and look forward to seeing the price drop.
Would love to see what one of the new Skylake so D's can do as a Linux gaming rig. If the next generation of games finally fixed the problem of multithread operation it would be absolutely sick... Just saying

"Patrick also points out that delays may push others onto 16-core Atom C3000 parts instead"

We've been hearing 'servers might be migrated to ARM instead!' for several years now, and it repeatedly fails to happen. Every new 'big ARM' chip release comes with a 'but THIS time' that never actually comes about.
