We use almost exclusively HP here at work. Some of it is quite brilliant but I find their quality control to be lacking. It's quite horrid actually. Their service is such a cluster F#ck that it's an unnecessary headache. It's not that I hate HP. I'm not out for blood bc they killed my dog, stole my stang and left me for dead. Just not a fan. They do make a good sauce after all. ;) For my equipment at home, I wont touch their products. I'd rather build it myself if I can or buy another that suits my needs and gives me the best bang for my buck.

Less than 10lbs so less than 4.54. That's not a lot for a back pack Especially if the weight is distributed well. That harness should distribute the weight easy enough. If you cant handle 4.54kg back pack, go to the gym, or at least go for a hike.
GPUs are going to have to vastly reduce their demand for electrical power before wearable VR becomes practical. As it stands, the 1 hour run time is a liability that will interfere with useful operation and result in low demand in the business/enterprise target market.
didn't the hot swappable battery suggest uninterrupted experience past the 1 hour? I switch out my RAT 9 mouse batteries every 8 hours without issue. I suppose that would be ideal? I wonder why more batteries wearable is not an option? As pictured.. Having two more on the from of the belt would seemingly balance out all the pull from the back ( although add to the weight. ) I use to be a camera man for a local TV station back when we used heavier Sony Betacams. I doubt the batteries are heavier than the Anton Bauers ( looks like the same brick size? ) In which case I imagine most could handle 2 in the back and 2 in the front.
( heck I carried a lot more with the weight of the camera not to mention the weight of my sachtler sticks and had to often run/sprint to get important shots. I imagine that weight would had been 10X more than this? )
If possible that would double the time to 2 hours. Problem with that would be the swap? Having the swap as a belt instead of individual batteries might facilitate that number?
There could be a niche for serious VR backpack rigs but I think most commercial users would be happier with a mobile SoC-based headset for AR. Battery life would be much longer for headsets, along with less user fatigue.

Not a fan of HP anything but the Mars Home Planet is pretty cool. I wonder if its Vive exclusive or can Oculus users participate?Samus - Tuesday, August 1, 2017 - link
HP and Samsung are the most diverse research houses in the world. I don't know how anybody couldn't be fascinated with either of them on some level.Manch - Friday, August 4, 2017 - link

I'm sure there have been worse ideas than lugging a 5kg pc on your back before, but I can not think of any for some reason...Manch - Tuesday, August 1, 2017 - link
