Good to see a manufacturer supporting an 'older' device. Sadly all too unusual.

NVIDIA has been doing quite good support in Android software front. Too bad they don't have new SoCs or Android tablets/phones coming.

this uses android but it's not a phone and nvidia is trying to make money on services rather than sales.
    So it makes sense.

yep... It's also just a couple of devices, so why not.

I still wish Nvidia would allow us to unlock the Shield TV for use as a Linux desktop PC, and provide drivers. Based on how performant my five year old Surface RT with a Tegra 3 is (faster by far than a brand new quad-core Atom "pro" tablet I also have), the Shield would likely make for a superb mini-desktop machine. It has all the right ports (USB 3.0, HDMI, Gigabit ethernet, etc.) and it can drive a 4K display with ease.

Mine updated for me yesterday morning.

it even updated the remote control firmware.

Got mine on Thursday. The first controller update after the Shield update failed but the second attempt worked. If your controller fails to update, try rebooting your Shield after the main update.

I just updated my nVidia shield and the new Amazon app doesn't support 4k... That's some serious BS.
    WTH Amazon?!?!

Yes it does. I'm watching Man In The High Castle in UHD right now.

Game over everyone else. With 2 shields in my home I was waiting for the day when i can sell my fire tv and roku stick which i kept around just for the amazon video app. Basically this update gave me money back lol

Similar feelings here. I had kept my "smart" 4K TV connected to the router solely for the Amazon video app. Now I can turn off the TV's wifi and not worry about it phoning home to report what I watch to the corporate overlords.

Anyone notice KODI was really messed up after this update? No audio, video kept stuttering, regardless of local media? I had to clear the cache under settings->apps->KODI to get KODI working back to normal again. Bizarre.

I use Plex rather than Kodi (and I use the Shield as the Plex server which works better than a dedicated PC) so I can't speak to that. However, I did have to rebuild my seamless storage setup; something about the update borked both my microSD card and external USB drive. I got it all working again by formatting both drives, converting them to seamless storage again, and restoring files from a backup.
