how does the notebook 9 lack a backlit keyboard in 2017? instead of adding features to differentiate, they are removing them. This kind of thing can't be acceptable for a notebook in this price range.
alright. I ctrl+F for backlit and the spec table says it is. but none of the pics confirm that, nor does this keyboard look like the type that would be.
Ugly bling is mandatory for anything targeted at people who play video games because we all know with 100% certainty that the ONLY people who EVER play video games are 10-20 year old boys and we all know boys like blinky lights and stupid logos. /s
Let's see for notebook 9 1. It is floppy --enough to be apparent in normal use. 2. It covers ONLY 95% of the sRGB space -- not a very hard target to hit. 3. It has a poor track pad ( clickpad). 4. I want my next laptop to have a TALLER screen than 16:9
"The laptop is fairly portly as well to allow for the cooling system which draws air from the bottom of the laptop and exhausts it from the hinge similar to the Razer Blade. This laptop ends up being quite large and portly though,"

A slew of 1080p Windows laptops, and the Chromebook has a 1600p 3:2 display?!What's an OP1 ARM SoC, apart from being hexa-core with two A72s?

Elsewhere suggests it's actually a Rockchip RK3399 at 2GHz, and the price will be $499.Doomtomb - Wednesday, January 4, 2017 - link

why do you need a backlight in a notebook since the monitor shines on the keyboard very close-by?drajitshnew - Thursday, January 5, 2017 - link
Dear murloc, shut off the lights, and try to type for an hour on your laptop with the keyboard back lights turned off. You will get your answerprisonerX - Friday, January 6, 2017 - link
You obviously don't use laptops in poorly lit environments.helvete - Friday, February 3, 2017 - link
I also wonder why so many people value backlit keyboards. Don't they remember the keybord layout? I guess not..Lolimaster - Wednesday, January 4, 2017 - link
It's really time to kill 16:9 from PC/Laptops.3:2 is the way to go and 16:10 for more multimedia oriented devices.

Still no thunderbolt-3 port? <eyeroll> not acceptable on a top-tier laptop like the 9 is supposed to be.lilmoe - Wednesday, January 4, 2017 - link
It does, albeit just one.nerd1 - Wednesday, January 4, 2017 - link
