Is that a hair or a scratch?

    That's the Porsche Design logo.

It is a scratch hair - a hair, dislodged by scratching.

I have to give it to them, the PD variant looks much worse, much cheaper. The same goes for the custom case. The phone also looks very dirty, can't tell if this is due to the "unique material properties" or someone's filthy hands. The front looks terrible too.

The phone doesn't look slick and high end, it looks like a cheap knockoff.

Also, next time, try using an actual camera.

I don't know why, but when I think of Porsche I think red. I'm kind of disappointed it isn't red.

Ferrari is definitely red in my mind. If anyone ever makes a Ferrari Design phone it had better be the most obnoxious glossy Ferrari red phone ever.

Like the old Acer AMD-based laptop line:

Smartphone cameras are not a substitute for real cameras for professional work. The constant re-focussing made the embedded video unwatchable.

As part of your testing, do you now check for Adups backdoor to user data?

This I agree with - there are many worrying privacy concerns around Chinese branded phones and it would be handy if this was looked into.

Checked out Bench, found the Jetstream numbers for the Pixel XL and the OnePlus 3T - the Kirin 960 seems significantly ahead. Impressive, hope this SoC shows up in more devices, or Huawei introduces a more Western, closer-to-stock experience. Also, those read and write speeds seem impressive.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to comment on the actual performance...

Yep, ARM's IP is seriously good. Wish it was in more phones.

They only pulled ahead just this end of the year.

The software is still prerelease for Mate 9 and PD, hence why I didn't compare it directly to other devices. Matt has a Mate 9 for review, so I'll let him take the lead on official numbers.

Is there going to be an MP12 version of Mali-G71? Because that performance is not ideal and in no way comparable to their performance increase charts when they unveiled it.
