Well to be fair, till the time HP really does turn a corner it's hard to dispute, or argue, the said notion simply because the likes of Dell, HP & Lenovo are dinosaurs of the computing realm, unable to change or adapt to the extent many of us would like them to.
The "BO" on the Pavilion made me giggle a little bit. I know HP/Compaq have been trying to sell on speaker branding for a long, loooong time now (I remember seeing the JBL logo festooned on old 1200 series laptops that had those huge speaker grilles in the 90s) but the could have picked a brand that didn't require slapping B.O. on the front of the case. At least you can't easily mistake JBL for a foul aroma. o.O
that's neat, both comps look to be good office computers. I wonder if the slice is powerful enough for HTPC applications with light gaming (probably not though)
The variety of form factors for Windows PCs has been amazing/nuts these past 5 or so years.
Not sure that either of these is really that practical compared with a normal desktop, but they're fun designs!
I actually did buy a tony Optiplex 3046 recently for use as a small single use server, though I wouldn't use it (nor even my slightly larger and considerably more powerful Alienware Alpha) as my main system.

In the final sentence, did you mean to say "I think it would be hard to dispute that..." ?Seems off in its current form.

Looks cool but I'm sure the prices will be crazy as it says "Starts at" so I'm sure the i7 edition will be like $1000 or more.jefflynn333 - Sunday, September 4, 2016 - link
