4GB RAM or bust. Before anyone points out the "even my 2GB Bay Trail does..." argument, something that even I promoted at times before, going for just 2GB does not anymore make that much of an economical advantage compared to going for the more mainstream 4GB mark. Look at the T100HA and how it managed 4GB yet in a very cheap price point. Of course smartphones are going RAM-upgrade crazy and yet here, where it matters more, it stagnates.
Blame MS for part of the stall at 2GB. It's the current threshold for getting the OEM license for free. The hardware cost of the ram is dwarfed by the jump in OS licensing costs; and at this price point they're probably already maxed out on pay-to-preload crapware so they can't barf over the OS image more to counter the cost.
I'm surprised an OEM hasn't gotten creative with this and sold an upgrade module with an additional 2GB (or even 8GB for that matter) ala Nintendo 64 style. The license agreement simply stats it is for tablets, phones and other mobile devices, with no more than 2GB and no more than 64GB storage. This implies the devices shouldn't be upgradable, memory wise, but if they are allowing microSD slots for storage expansion, the loose terms would likely allow for some sort of memory expansion. It's just that nobody has done this in the tablet market yet.
But it needs to be done. That'd be the killer feature to have a $200 tablet with an optional $40 8GB upgrade module to total 10GB RAM or disable the embedded RAM since I'm not even sure if Baytrail can address more than 8GB.
Without reading (or even know where to read) the fine print: I suspect the uSD slot is an explicit carve out (because devices in this price range will have to little onboard storage for any significant amount of user data); with main memory and flash storage being mandatory non-upgradable types to get the free license.
It will a have a microSD expansion. This design is just taking from the first ASUS T100 which is old already and sold at very affordable prices. This is just a hardware update from Acer's Switch series.
I looked at the datasheets on Acers website for V10. They only mention Wifi standards A, B, G and N. I will not buy it with out wifi AC, since all our other equipment use it.
Assuming the base Switch One 10 is essentially the equal of a base Asus T100, a ~43% price decrease in 2.5 years for this type of device seems like decent progress.
what a genius idea if it could happen... sell em with 4Gb ram with Chrome OS and let it be upgradable to windows 10 if the users decides to install 10 on it... ;P
Just spend the couple extra dollars for an Asus T100HA and you get 4GB and 64GB. It's laggy sometimes with two clock bins on this Acer so good luck with that...

I have a Chromebook with 2 GB of RAM. It works pretty well, but 2 GB does not sustain a lot of tabs. I want 8 GB to be the new minimum.SunLord - Monday, May 30, 2016 - link

I really wish they made these things 12-13" instead of 10"... I find 10" too small. Fine as a tablet but not good with a keyboard.Slangefar - Monday, May 30, 2016 - link

Looks like a perfect match for a ChromeBook, especially with the upcoming ability to run Android apps... no 2 GB limit for licensing too.AnotherGuy - Tuesday, May 31, 2016 - link
