That's exactly what I said. And I went further with the TDP because a normal desktop card in a less restrictive environment has a better chance to sustain full load for long periods of time. You can't have a really small AND silent system that's able to cool even a 145W card plus CPU, RAM, chipset, SSD, etc. - they're all crammed in the same box. So something's gotta give. It's a balancing act.
The nano would seem like a better choice, it seems this will be available even closer to Polaris and pascal which probably are even a better fit for this setup.
It should have mxm card slot so upcoming mobile polaris or pascal might offer upgrades for it. But mobile gtx 980 is quite mighty already(but power hungry).
Given that they've done a good job designing the water cooling, that looks like pretty much the ideal size for this thing. Looking forward to seeing more details and eventually some reveiws.
What, is that the street price, channel price or Canadian price?
I'm seeing laptops carrying GTX980m for as low as US$1650, with their GTX970m counterparts being US$1200. Both featuring quad core i7, 16GB RAM and 128GB SSD
As for the GTX980 8GB mxm card itself, it seems to go as low as US$890.
980 is different from 980m (which are around $700-800 separately) and the cheapest laptop with GTX 980 costs around $2800 for now (SAGER NP9870-S (CLEVO P870DM-G))

MXM-version of 980 is around $1200-1300 for now. Now add the CPU, RAM, SSD and liquid cooling unit on that. It will cost at least $2500.And if you really pour $3K (with monitor) for a gaming DESKTOP, you won't like to get limited at a single 980.
