Introduction
It's time once again for AnandTech's Memory and Motherboard price guide.
The basic goal is to provide you with the best deals, and follow price trends
of the listed products. We have selected a leading team of on-line vendors,
and will be tracking their progress on weekly basis. Please note that all vendors
were selected according to their best price offered. Some vendors may ask that
you place a phone-order to make sure that you receive our listed price; others
simply ask that you mention where you found the price (in this case AnandTech).
We have tried to eliminate vendors with low feedback rating, but we do encourage
you to do some research before purchasing any product from this list.
If you encounter any problems with a vendor on our list, please email us, and we will take appropriate action. Remember that we will only list vendors with positive customer feedback. If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to let us know.
Also be sure to check out AnandTech's Hot Deals Forum for even more great memory, motherboard, CPU, video card and other technology buys.

This Week
Welcome to the Third Edition of AnandTech's Memory and Motherboard Price Guide for April.
From the prices we've gathered for this week's guide, it looks as though prices for both motherboards and memory are in flux. Beginning with memory, DDR modules have stabilized in price for the time being whereas RDRAM, PC133 and PC100 SDRAM modules have fallen in most cases.
Prices have generally remained the same for Slot-1/Socket-370/Socket-423 motherboards, although few i850 and VIA Pro266-based motherboards have fallen in price. We've also added the ASUS CUV266 motherboard to our list of VIA Pro266 motherboards which, if you remember from our review of this board last week, comes bundled with 128MB of Nanya PC2100 DDR SDRAM.
As far as Socket-A motherboards are concerned, most KT133/KT133A motherboards have fallen in price in addition to several KM133 and DDR boards.

For this week DDR modules have been quiet as Crucial has not changed their prices since our last guide. We've added a 512MB PC2100 ECC and 64MB PC2100 module to the list which expands the selection of DDR modules that are currently available in the market. RDRAM is on its usual fall with a huge drop of $58 with the 256MB module as well as a $14 drop with the 64MB module. The fall in RDRAM corresponds with the continually falling prices with Pentium 4 chips which are, as we have mentioned numerous times before, increasing in numbers in the marketplace thus driving prices down.
For the first time in several weeks PC133 and PC100 modules are dropping a bit with some price drops more significant than others. The 256MB and 128MB flavors of PC133 CAS 3 memory have fallen quite a bit coming down to $70 and $38 respectively. PC133 CAS 2 memory is also on the fall with 256MB running for $92 and 128MB for $45 which is not too far off from CA3 prices. Hopefully these prices will remain in this "zone" of low prices but it's hard to say in what direction the prices will go in the future as many changes are occurring in the tech industry.

2 Day FedEx, Bundled with 128MB Nanya PC2100 DDR SDRAM |
In the high-end arena of Intel computing, the Supermicro P4STA and MSI MS-850 Pro have fallen quite nicely in price but the other motherboards have remained the same. New to the VIA Pro266 pack is the ASUS CUV266 motherboard which we reviewed recently. The item that sets this board apart from it's competitors is that it already comes bundled with a 128MB stick of Nanya PC2100 DDR SDRAM making the board much pricier. Though a single stick of PC2100 DDR runs for currently $62, this board still outweighs other Pro266 boards by approximately $100. Though it's expensive, the CUV266 is another example of ASUS's trademark quality since the board had great stability and performance with the exception of some glitches during testing. From the Pro266-based boards we've seen in the AT labs, the CUV266 is currently king of the mountain so consider this one if you're in the market for a Pentium III DDR solution.

Unlike Slot-1/Socket-370 motherboards, most, if not all of the KT133/KT133A motherboards have come down in price with some significant drops. Currently, our recommend KT133A board, the Iwill KK266, actually runs cheaper than our recommended KT133 board the ABIT KT7-RAID. This makes the KT133A choice all the more enticing since prices have fallen for all the boards we list in this bunch. In addition, the KT133A offers a nice performance jump over its KT133 cousin since it supports a 266MHz FSB.
We've added a new board to the KM133 bunch which is the ASUS A7VI-VM which we recently recommended in our Value Systems Guide for a Value Small Office/Home Office system. KM133 prices have otherwise dropped with several boards.
Not too much has changed
with our DDR Socket-A motherboards with the exception of some new motherboards,
the Biostar M7MIA, and the MSI K7 Master. So far, the K7 Master has done
well in preliminary tests and performs just as well as its ASUS counterpart.
However, the AMD 760 chipset is currently the most reliable DDR platform
currently available for Socket A processors but eventually it will be phased
out as chipsets from VIA, SiS, and ALi become more commonplace.
