During Computex 2019, AMD's CEO Dr Lisa Su introduced the company's newest AM4 platform chipset, the X570. Designed to support the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors, X570 is just as big of an update as the new Zen 2 architecture is. On paper, it has a lot of talking points: the new PCIe 4.0 interface, the 11 W operating TDP, and more USB 3.1 G2 connectivity for vendors to work with. In this article, we'll be analysing all of the available X570 motherboards we could find.

The AMD X570 Chipset Overview: PCIe 4.0 is Here

Among the biggest additions to AMD’s AM4 platform is the introduction of PCIe 4.0 support, courtesy of the new X570 chipset. X570 marks the first consumer motherboard chipset to feature native PCIe 4.0 – which can double the bandwidth available for everything from SSDs to video cards, offering the opportunity to improve performance when these peripherals get bus-bottlenecked.

Better still, PCIe 4.0 isn't just a feature of the X570 chipset; the Ryzen 3000 series also support PCIe 4.0 for the integrated PCIe lanes that the CPUs are directly hosting, thanks to the I/O die at the heart of each chip. As a result, the X570 chipset and Ryzen 3000 even use PCIe 4.0 to talk to each other, with that link consuming 4 dedicated lanes from each chip.

Directly comparing AMD's trio of AM4 X-series chipsets, the X570 chipset naturally adds the aforementioned PCIe 4.0 lane support, an improvement over the predecessors’ X470 and X370's last-gen PCIe 3.0 standard.

Another big plus to the new X570 chipset is more support for USB 3.1 Gen2, as well as AMD allowing motherboard manufacturers to play with 12 flexible PCIe 4.0 lanes (Out of the total of 24; 4x for CPU, 8x fixed for PCIe) to implement features how they wish. With the flexible I/O lanes, vendors can add features such as SATA ports, PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, or even 3 more PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 slots.

One of the biggest changes in the chipset is within its architecture. The X570 chipset is the first Ryzen chipset to be manufactured and designed in-house by AMD, with some helping ASMedia IP blocks. Previously, with the X470 and X370 chipsets, those chipsets were directly developed and produced by ASMedia, with the company building them on a 55nm process.

Meanwhile, we've also seen chipset TDPs rise and fall over the generations. The X370 started things off at 6.8 W, and X470 improved upon things to bring the chipset TDP down to 4.8 W. However for X570, thanks to the high power costs of PCIe 4.0 the TDP of the chipset has gone back up, and significantly so; even the lower-power version of the chip still has an 11 W TDP.

As a result of the increased power consumption of the X570 chipset, better chipset cooling is required. All but one of the motherboards launching in this first round of products are featuring an actively cooled chipset heatsink. While it is expected that AMD will be working on improving their chipset TDP for future generations, for now the increased power has forced manufacturers to implement more premium and more effective ways of keeping the X570 chipset and various other motherboard components cooler.

Tagential to the X570 chipset itself, this new generation of motherboards have forced vendors to keep a closer eye on their power delivery designs and to make sure that they’re following AMD’s new specification for the 105TDP class chips which require current delivery of up to and above 140A. Notably motherboard vendors have said that the upcoming 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X was the baseline for which the new VRM designs were validated against. In particular, this means using better heatsinks so that the MOSFETs themselves can keep their collective cool.

Finally, while more a product of the Ryzen 3000 CPU itself, memory support has also been improved thanks to a better IMC on the Ryzen 3000. Thanks to this supported frequency boost, some motherboard vendors are advertising speeds of up to DDR4-4400, which were unheard of for an AMD processor until now. Even base frequencies have improved for the X570/Ryzen3000 platform, as the maximum officially supported memory frequency has now increased to DDR4-3200, up from DDR4-2933 on X470/Ryzen2000, and DDR4-2667 on X370/Ryzen1000.

We investigated in our Ryzen 7 Memory Scaling piece back in 2017, we found out that the Infinity Fabric Interconnect scales well with frequency, and it is something that we will be analysing once again when we get the initial launch of the Ryzen 3000 series and X570 motherboards out of the way, and potentially allow vendors to work and improve on their early launch firmware versions for AMD's new 7nm silicon.

The Current X570 Product Stack: 35+ New Motherboards Announced

With the importance of the Ryzen 3000 product launch for AMD underscoring the large potential of the new CPU, motherboard manufacturers have been lining up masses of X570 boards, all with the aim in offering users differentiating configurations in terms of connectivity, components, as well as price points.

Below is the current X570 product stack announced for launch, including models from all the usual suspects: ASRock, ASUS, GIGABYTE, and MSI, as well as solitary additions from Biostar with its X570 GT8 Racing, and Colorful with its iGame X570 CVN Gaming Pro V14 model. It is expected that even more boards will be introduced in the future, as motherboard vendors gain experience and feedback with their first round of boards.

ASRock:

A total of 10 new boards, with a mixture of gaming-focused boards including the Phantom Gaming series, as well as the X570 Creator – which is as the name says, aimed at professionals and content creators. The Taichi makes a comeback, and it's rumoured that a higher end X570 Taichi Ultimate will make an appearance before the end of the year. ASRock also has rear panel Thunderbolt 3 on a couple of boards, which some users will appreciate.

ASUS:

The largest X570 product stack with 12 new models. However the large number is a bit overstating things, since it comes as a consequence of ASUS offering both Wi-Fi and non-Wi-Fi versions of some of its boards. The new Crosshair VIII models dominate the high-end segment, while the small form factor Impact series makes its highly anticipated comeback after a couple of years. In the mid-range, there are the ROG Strix gaming branded models, while the Pro WS X570-Ace caters to workstations. Users looking for models without an overly aggressive gaming theme will find the ASUS Prime more their style, while the entry-level TUF Gaming brand also makes an appearance.

Biostar:

Just one board for the launch of the X570 chipset: the X570 Racing GT8. This is an ATX model, and we've been told that Biostar will be releasing a mini-ITX model (most likely the X570GTN) in the coming months.

Colorful:

Just one model for launch day. Colorful or iGame are mainly sold in the Asian markets, so we don't expect them to be available in the western world anytime soon.

GIGABYTE:

9 boards, with a varied range stretching from the highly-equipped flagship X570 Aorus Xtreme, all the way down to the X570 Gaming X. GIGABYTE is one of just three vendors (along with ASRock & ASUS) who has a mini-ITX model.

MSI:

The smallest X570 product stack from the big four vendors with a total of 7 new boards. This is partially because unlike some of the other vendors, MSI isn't releasing dueling Wi-Fi/non-WI-Fi versions of the same boards; instead either a board includes Wi-Fi 6 as a standard feature or no Wi-Fi at all. MSI also has the board with the most impressive accessory bundle, with the X570 Godlike including a 10 GigE NIC in addition to its 2.5 GigE NIC on the rear panel. It's nice to see MSI going better than Gigabit when compared with X470.

X570 Power Delivery Specification & Comparison

One of the most talked about aspects of any high-end motherboard lately is the quality of its power delivery system. At a high level, all X570 motherboards have to adhere to a couple of factors, the most important of which is support for the upcoming Ryzen 3950X 16c/32t processor. This means manufacturers needed to work even harder in creating suitable and efficient power delivery systems to ensure full compatibility with the Ryzen 3000 series.

Meanwhile, we're also keeping a look out for any cases where manufacturers may be embellishing their power delivery claims, advertising a board as being more capable than it really is. After some bad history and what has happened in the last two years there, we hope to (and expect) to see less of that with the X570 chipset.

As power delivery is usually one of the most requested items for any of our motherboard content, prior to the launch we reached out to all the motherboard vendors to find out what power delivery systems each of their new X570 boards are equipped with. Below is a table of the official information we have compiled from each of the vendors, with a question mark (?) denotes when we don't have information available.

Please note that this information is self-reported, so until we can review any given X570 board, we're operating on the honor system, trusting vendors to supply honest and upfront information. And we will be checking, and we will be keeping this page up-to-date as more information becomes available.

As we get more information from vendors or reputable sources, we will update the table. As we get more and more X570 boards in for review, we can go deeper into the analysis in each individual review over the upcoming months.

ASRock X570 Aqua

Starting off alphabetically with ASRock, we open our X570 chipset overview with one of the most impressive and talked about models displayed at Computex, the ASRock X570 Aqua. ASRock's product stack is well varied with models focused on gaming, content creators, professional, and enthusiasts, the X570 Aqua certainly positions itself as high-end with a solid feature set, an elegant aesthetic which resembles that of Robocop's armor, and offers users an element of exclusivity due to that fact ASRock will only make 999 pieces of the X570 Aqua available to consumers.

The first thing that stands out about the ASRock X570 Aqua is the full-cover PCB armor covering the vast majority of the PCB and the large CPU water block. The ASRock X570 Aqua is an E-ATX board which has a large water block which is designed to keep the CPU cooled, and also extends to cool the X570 chipset. The armor, and the backplate on the rear makes the board much heavier than other premium models we've come to see in recent times.

The feature set underneath the aesthetics is equally premium with an Aquantia AQC107 10 G LAN port, with an additional Intel Gigabit port included. Its Wi-Fi 6 capabilities come due to a Killer AX1650 802.11ax interface which also adds support for BT 5. A Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec provides the onboard audio, while the rear panel also uses two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports. This limits the boards other USB 3.1 G2 capabilities and as a result, the X570 Aqua has six rear-panel USB 3.1 G1 type-A ports, but users can add an additional four with two USB 3.1 G1 headers, and four USB 2.0 ports with a pairing of USB 2.0 headers.

One of the main features of X570 is PCIe 4.0, and the ASRock X570 Aqua makes use of three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16 x8/x8 and x8/x8/x4; also present is three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Storage includes two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots and a total of eight SATA ports. ASRock gives the X570 Aqua some impeccable memory support which is listed as DDR4-4666.

The ASRock X570 Aqua is currently ASRock's flagship X570 motherboard in terms of features, and aesthetics. We know that the ASRock X570 Aqua will be limited to just 999 pieces worldwide, making its exclusivity one of its attracting features. The Aqua moniker signifies the targeted consumer of this board, in that only users looking to run a custom water cooled system with high-end components, will likely consider this model. This is likely to be a favorable model for case modders, or perhaps users looking to create an elegant water-cooled system with a form of exclusivity and individuality.

With an element of exclusivity, the ASRock X570 Aqua has an MSRP of $1000. This makes it the most expensive X570 model at launch, but this is expected due to the limited nature as it is limited to just 999 pieces worldwide. A heavy-set construction, the PCB covering armor and coupled with a top quality feature set make this a top option for modders, and water cooling enthusiasts.

ASRock X570 Taichi

Moving a step down the product stack from the X570 Aqua is the ASRock X570 Taichi which includes a new RGB inspired design, and shifts away from the usual black and white Taichi theme. While still targetted at premium users and enthusiasts, the ASRock X570 Taichi is representative of one of its most well-known lines which in previous generations has combined quality, performance, and a solid feature set at a reasonable price point. The ASRock X570 Taichi also uses its fabled signature cogwheel design across the board covers and integrates ARGB into multiple areas.

The ASRock X570 Taichi redefines the range and marks a change in aesthetics across the entirety of the board. On the majority of the board is its memorable cogwheel design is still a main element of the design but it now includes black heatsink armor around the PCIe slot area. The X570 chipset is actively cooled by a fan, mainly due to the X570 chipsets tendency to run warmer than previous generations. On the rear panel cover as with the chipset heatsink is ARGB for users looking to make a visual statement with their system. The X570 Taichi uses a 14-phase power delivery and has one 8-pin and one 4-pin 12 V CPU power inputs.

On the X570 Taichi is three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots operating at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, with two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Underneath the heatsink armor is three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, while the board also supports up to eight SATA devices. For users looking for Thunderbolt connectivity, a Thunderbolt AIC 5-pin connector is present, but support is limited to ASRock's separately supplied AIC card. A total of four memory slots with support for DDR4-4666 are present, with a maximum supported capacity of up to 128 GB.

On the rear panel is a single Intel I211-AT Gigabit port, and also includes the new 802.11ax Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi 6 wireless adapter. There are three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. An HDMI video output is present for users looking to use the integrated graphics on Ryzen APUs, while there's five 3.5 mm color coded audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output which is powered by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec. For legacy users, a PS/2 combo port is featured, along with a BIOS Flashback button and a button to reset the CMOS.

The ASRock X570 Taichi has an MSRP of $300 and represents one of its most recognisable ranges for the last decade. Users looking for a mid-range option with plenty of features including triple PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, plenty of SATA, and solid power delivery will be hard pushed to find a better board in its price range.

ASRock X570 Creator

The ASRock X570 Creator is geared towards content creators with a similar feature set to the flagship ASRock X570 Aqua, but without the focus on high-end aesthetics, and water cooling. The X570 Creator has a simplistic and elegant theme with silver heatsinks, with black contrast.

Its X570 heatsink is actively cooled, and incorporates an M.2 heatsink, with a standalone heatsink for the top slot; the top M.2 slot supports PCIe 4.0 x4 and SATA, while the bottom slot is geared for just PCIe 4.0 x4 drives. For SATA there are a total of eight ports. On the PCIe front, there are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16/x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, as well as three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots.

For memory, the ASRock X570 Creator has four slots with support for up to DDR4-4666 which remains to be seen if it will be effective or not in terms of performance. The X570 Creator also sports a 14-phase power delivery which is consistent with ASRock's other high-end offerings and has 8-pin plus 4-pin i12 V ATX CPU power inputs for delivering power to the processor. The feature set of the ASRock X570 Creator is similar to its other premium X570 models, but the main difference is primarily in the aesthetic. A cleaner, more professional look, without as much flash and pizazz. This mode has two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, with a total of eight SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. A debug LED is located just below the X570 chipset heatsink, and next to these is an onboard power and reset switch.

With the ASRock X570 Creator being one of its more higher-end models, it has two rear panel Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports. with an Aquantia AQC107 10 G LAN port, an Intel Gigabit port, Intel's AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 interface, and two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, as well as four rear-panel USB 3.1 G1 Type-A. It also has two DisplayPorts with an input, and output, as well as one HDMI video output.

The ASRock X570 Creator comes in with an MSRP of $500 which for a premium feature set and everything on offer, it's not a bad price. There are other boards which cost slightly less with similar feature sets, but the Aquantia AQC107 10 G NIC, support for NVIDIA two-way SLI, and dual Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports on the rear panel all add cost to the board.

ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X

Another of the most high-end options from ASRock is the X570 Phantom Gaming X. The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X is a red, silver, and black themed premium gaming-focused model with some notable inclusions common to the Phantom Gaming branding. The most notable inclusion is the Realtek RTL8125AG 2.5 G LAN which is aimed at arming gamers with networking options.

In between the three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots is two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, with support for up to three-way AMD CrossFire, and two-way NVIDIA SLI multi-graphics card configurations. Memory support is also much improved for Ryzen 3000 with official support for up to DDR4-4666, with a total of four slots available for users; this model also supports up to 128 GB of system memory. ASRock's X570 Phantom Gaming X is also geared for enthusiasts with a 14-phase power delivery which uses an 8-pin, and 4-pin pairing of 12 V ATX CPU power inputs. On the rear is a steel PCB brace which adds support to the PCB, as well as extra weight. On the storage front, there are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, eight SATA ports, and ASRock's U.2 kit which available separately is also supported.

On the rear panel is a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and six USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. The onboard audio is driven by the Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec and offers uses five 3.5 mm audio jacks, a single S/PDIF optical output, with software support for Creative's Sound Blaster Cinema 5 software The rear panel also includes a Realtek RTL8125AG 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port with a secondary Intel Gigabit port for dual LAN. Also featured is an Intel AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi wireless interface, a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec, a single HDMI 1.4 video output, a clear CMOS button and a BIOS Flashback button.

The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X isn't as high-end as some of the other its new models such as the X570 Aqua, or X570 Creator, but gamers will find plenty of useful features to sink their teeth into. The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming X has an MSRP of $350 and represents its flagship gaming model; a Realtek 2.5 G NIC and an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface add extra cost, but the board does lack a lot on the USB G2 connectivity on the rear panel, which is a little disappointing given the mid-range price tag.

ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4

The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 is the more value orientated model of the three Phantom Gaming branded X570 models at launch. Retaining a lot of similar features from the other models, the X570 Phantom Gaming 4 focuses more on offering value for money with a mix of good quality components, simple yet effective aesthetics, and represents its mid-range gaming inspired option. The overall design consists of a black and grey themed PCB, with a black and grey actively cooled chipset heatsink, and a grey power delivery heatsink which is designed to keep the CPU VCore area cool.

On the bottom half of the board is two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, and x16/x4. This is due to the Ryzen 3000 series processors driving the top lane at x16, while the bottom full-length PCIe slot is driven by the X570 chipset. There are also two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, as well as two M.2 slots with the top slot supporting PCIe 4.0 x4, and the bottom M.2 slot allowing for both PCIe 4.0 and SATA SSDs. Also featured are eight SATA ports which support RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. ASRock's U.2 adapter kit which is available separately is also supported on the X570 Phantom Gaming 4. The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 also uses a 10-phase power delivery with a single 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power input, and also includes support for DDR4-4066 memory with four slots available and allowing for a maximum of 64 GB.

The rear panel includes a mid-range offering of connections including two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, six USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports, as well as a pair of video outputs consisting of a DisplayPort 1.2, and an HDMI output. There is no USB Type-C featured on this model, but there are an Intel I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet port and three 3.5 mm color coded audio jacks powered by a Realtek ALC1200 HD audio codec. Finishing off the rear panel is a PS/2 combo port, and three antenna ports on the IO shield itself due to the inclusion of an M.2 Key E 2230 slot for users to install their own wireless interface.

Overall the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 represents a more modest option with a Gigabit Ethernet port, a slightly cut down Realtek ALC1200 HD codec (compared to the ALC1220), and two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots. This model caters to the entry-level gamer with a price that is currently set at $155.

ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3

Well-known in recent times for its impressive mini-ITX motherboard, the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3 includes a very solid feature set. The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3 joins a small handful of small form factor X570 models at launch but looks to stand-out from the crowd with a major feature; a Thunderbolt 3 Type-C connector on the rear panel.

Following in line with the rest of its premium X570 product stack, ASRock has equipped the board with a hefty looking 10-phase power delivery, and official support for DDR4-4533 memory across two available slots with a total capacity of up to 64 GB. A single full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot is located at the bottom of the board, with a single PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot, and just four SATA ports. The networking is handled by an Intel Gigabit LAN port, while the Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface is controlled by the Killer AX1650 interface with support for BT 5 devices.

On the rear panel alongside the single Thunderbolt 3 Type-C connector which is the highlight of the board, the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3 also includes two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A and two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. This is contradictive on the official specifications that were given to us at Computex which stated this model has two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A ports on the rear, as well as two USB 2.0 ports which also seem to be missing from the rear panel. On the display model at Computex, there is a clear CMOS button, a DisplayPort input and HDMI video output, with a PS/2 combo port, and five 3.5 mm color coded audio jacks with a S/PDIF optical output due to the use of a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec.

The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3 mini-ITX motherboard looks to stand out from other brands mini-ITX offerings with the Thunderbolt 3 which has been a mainstay of its desktop-focused small form factor models of recent times. A solid looking 10-phase power delivery similar to that of the ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac model we reviewed makes this even more appealing to users looking to push out the overclocks on the new Ryzen 3000 series processors. The X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX TB3 has an MSRP of $300, which is by no means cheap in comparison to its other mini-ITX models of late.

ASRock X570 Steel Legend

Another mid-range board from ASRock is the X570 Steel Legend which blends a good range of features in with solid aesthetics with addressable RGB within its the power delivery and chipset heatsinks. The board sits on a black and urban camouflage themed PCB, with steel silver heatsinks, with elements of black to add contrast. This model is also very similar to the ASRock X570 Extreme4 in terms of components used, feature set, and overall design with the main difference coming via the color scheme.

In addition to the straight-lined heatsinks which makes the board look attractive, is a solid feature set including two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16, and x16/x4 due to chipset constraints. This means up to two way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card setups can be used. In the top right corner is four memory slots with support for up to DDR4-4666 which is very impressive, and these slots support up to a maximum of 64 GB. The storage capabilities of the ASRock X570 Steel Legend include two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots each with its own individual heatsink, and blends into the actively cooled X570 chipset heatsink quite nicely. Also featured is eight SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays, and ASRock's U.2 kit which is available separately is also supported.

The rear panel on the ASRock X570 Steel Legend is more comprehensive for a mid-range model than the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, with a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, and six USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. A single Ethernet port is powered by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC, and while there is no wireless interface included, an M.2 Key E 2230 slot with inserts included on the IO shield allow for users to install their own. There are five 3.5 mm color coded audio jacks with a single S/PDIF optical output which are driven by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec, a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI video output for Ryzen 2nd and 3rd gen APUs, and finishing off the rear panel is a PS/2 combo port.

The ASRock X570 Steel Legend offers users a similar feature set to its X570 Phantom Gaming 4, but with better onboard audio (Realtek ALC1220 vs ALC1200) and utilizes addressable RGB effectively within the heatsinks. This model also uses a straight forward 10-phase power delivery and includes an 8-pin and 4-pin set of 12 V ATX CPU power inputs to provide power to the processor. Price wise, the ASRock X570 Steel Legend has an MSRP of $200, while users in the USA can also get a version with Wi-Fi 6 at a cost of $210.

ASRock X570 Extreme4

The ASRock X570 Extreme4 is another model which strafes itself away from the more gaming-oriented models from its product stack. Very similar in design and feature set to to the ASRock X570 Steel Legend, the X570 Extreme4 uses a black PCB with darker gunmetal grey colored heatsinks. It also has addressable RGB integrated into the rear panel cover and chipset heatsink, with support for ASRock's Polychrome Sync software.

Looking at the expansion slots available on the ASRock X570 Extreme4, there are two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with support for x16, and x16/x4 which means up to two way AMD CrossFire is supported; the top full-length slot includes a coating of ASRock's Steel armor for better durability. In addition to this are three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, and located underneath each of the full-length PCIe 4.0 slots are two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, each with an individual heatsink which links into the actively cooled X570 chipset heatsink; also featured is eight SATA ports with RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays all supported. Underneath the rear panel cover and the heatsinks is a 10-phase power delivery with an 8-pin and 4-pin 12 V ATX CPU power input to power the processor. At the top right-hand corner is four memory slots with support for up to DDR4-4666 and users can install up to a maximum of 64 GB of RAM.

On the rear panel is one USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C and six USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports, as well as an HDMI video output. While the ASRock X570 Extreme4 doesn't come with Wi-Fi enabled, there is an M.2 Key E 2230 slot for users to install their own wireless interface, and there are mounting holes located on the rear IO shield for this. Also located on the rear panel is a PS/2 combo port, a single Ethernet port controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC, and there are also five 3.5 mm color coded audio jacks and a S/DPIF optical output which are powered by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec.

With a very similar feature set and overall aesthetic to the ASRock X570 Steel Legend model, the X570 Extreme4 features a more modest design with less of a focus on gaming, and more on performance whilst keeping a good quality core feature set. The ASRock X570 Extreme4 has an MSRP of $240, but users in the US can purchase a Wi-Fi 6 enabled version for the slightly higher cost of $250.

ASRock X570 Pro4 & X570M Pro4

ASRock unveiled a number of its X570 models during Computex 2019: a lot of gaming-focused models, and some extremely high-end offerings, but the ATX sized ASRock X570 Pro4 and microATX X570M Pro4 looks set to offer users less bling and more functionality at a lower price point.

Starting with the design of the ASRock X570 Pro4 and X570M Pro4 models, both models use the same silver and black theme throughout, with shining silver heatsinks, and a solid looking aluminium rear panel cover which doubles up as the power delivery heatsink. Both the ATX and microATX models use the same 10-phase power delivery, with both opting to use a single 8-pin 12 V EPS CPU power input. Both have dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with one M.2 heatsink, with eight SATA ports, and both also use an Intel Gigabit LAN port, and a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec.

ASRock X570 Pro4 motherboard

The primary difference aside from the form factor is the ASRock X570 Pro4 naturally has more PCB space for extra PCIe connectivity. This includes two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots on the X570 Pro4 compared to the single PCIe 4.0 x1 on the X570M Pro4, but surprisingly, both feature two full-length PCIe 4.0 x4 slots and an M.2 Key E for users to add their own Wi-Fi/BT module. Both include a DisplayPort and HDMI video output on the rear panel, and four memory slots capable of supporting up to DDR4-4066 with a maximum capacity of up to 64 GB.

ASRock X570M Pro4 microATX motherboard at Computex 2019

The rear panel on both the ASRock X570 Pro4 and X570M Pro4 are identical in terms of connections and includes a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, six USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports, and a single Ethernet port powered by an Intel I211AT Gigabit controller. For audio, there are three color coded 3.5 mm audio jacks which is controlled by a Realtek ALC1200 HD audio codec.

It's clear that the X570 Pro4 and X570M Pro4 models are aimed at users with more a more professional focus; this is prevalent in the feature set and the aesthetic. There is nothing flashy about the Pro4, but it does represent a more modest offering in its X570 product stack with the X570 Pro4 priced at $170, with the X570M Pro4 coming in at a slightly higher MSRP of $186

ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula

The ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula represents its flagship X570 entry onto the market with some very notable features, including a revamped design with a strong focus on performance, and ROG themed aesthetics. First of all, the ROG Crosshair VIII Formula uses EKWB heatsinks which can be connected to a custom water cooling loop for better power delivery temperatures, or as passive cooled. This has been seen on numerous iterations of its Maximus Formula boards created for Intel chipsets. This marks a shifting tide where ASUS seem to have confidence in AMD and the ability of its 7nm Ryzen 3000 processors, by opting for such a premium model for the X570 chipset.

One of the main focal points of the X570 chipset is its native PCIe 4.0 support. The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula has three-full length PCIe 4.0 slots operating at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, with the final x4 coming from the chipset. This allows users to use two-way NVIDIA SLI and two-way AMD Crossfire multi-graphics card configurations. For add-on cards, a single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot is also present. There are also four DDR4 memory slots with a maximum supported capacity of up to 128 GB. Also included are a LiveDash OLED screen, a full metal backplate for a more rigid frame, and ROG armor across the majority of the PCB; not to forget about the swathe of RGB LED zones and the integrated fan within the chipset heatsink. On the rear of the board is a metal backplate which adds reinforcement to keep the board's structure intact.

On the componentry, the Crosshair VIII Formula uses a premium controller set with the most notable inclusions coming on the networking side. An Aquantia AQC111 5 GbE controller with a secondary Intel I211AT gigabit chip offers users dual LAN, but more impressively, ASUS has jumped onto the Wi-Fi 6 bandwagon by including the new Intel AX200 2x2 Wi-Fi adapter. The onboard audio is controlled by the Realtek SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec. On the rear panel is a wide array of connections including seven USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. Users can add to this with one USB 3.1 G2, two USB 3.1 G1 and two USB 2.0 front panel headers, with the USB 3.1 G2 offering one additional port, and the rest each offering an additional two ports per header.

The ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Formula is a mixture of premium controllers, quality features, and classic Formula aesthetics due to the implementation of an EKWB water block to keep the power delivery cool. This not only adds extra weight to the board but also cost and that is represented with an MSRP of $700.

ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WIFI

Both the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi and ROG Crosshair VIII Hero are both targeted at gamers with a strong balance between enthusiast, and gaming features. First of all, both models are identical with the exception of the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 wireless adapter. The design follows the traditional ROG style with a similar ROG armor covering that the Crosshair VIII Formula does, but not as extensive. The chipset heatsink includes a fan to keep the X570 chipset running cool, and also includes plenty of customizable RGB with the Hero logo, and ROG logo.

Similar to the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula, the Crosshair VI Hero features dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 and also has three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4; this allows for both two-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD Crossfire multi-graphics card setups to be used. A single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot is present and storage capabilities are provided by two PCIe 4.0 M.2, and eight SATA ports. This model also supports up to 128 GB of RAM across a total of four memory slots.

The newest inclusion for ASUS is the use of the Realtek RTL8125AG Dragon 2.5 GbE gaming LAN.  Onboard audio is taken care of by a Realtek SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec and as a result, adds five 3.5 mm audio jacks, and a single S/PDIF optical output on the rear panel. There are a whopping seven USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, as well as a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C port on the rear panel. A single front panel USB 3.1 G2 port is also available for users to expand upon, with two USB 2.0 ports providing an additional four ports, and two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A headers for a total of four ports. Add more

The ROG Crosshair VIII Hero offers users a similar feature set to that of its current X570 flagship, the Crosshair VIII Formula, but without the OLED panel and water block with a more competitive MSRP of $380 for the Wi-Fi enabled version with an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface. The non-Wifi variant is likely to be slightly cheaper, but no MSRP is currently available for this model.

ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact

One of the biggest surprises during Computex as far as the announcement of the X570 went was the unveiling of the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact. Based on the uncommon mini-DTX form factor which is similar to mini-ITX, but with a slightly longer frame, allows ASUS to add an extra expansion slot onto the PCB without sacrificing too much on the overall size of the board. The ROG Crosshair VIII Impact is focused on performance but still offers gaming-focused features along with the rest of ROG/Strix X570 branded product stack.

Included on the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact is a SO-DIMM.2 slot for PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives, with enough space to spare to add a heatsink too. Featured is a full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot which is coated with ASUS Steelslot armor reinforcement. Also featured in addition to the dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots are four SATA ports. The same case with the memory as the Crosshair VIII Impact has two memory slots with support for up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory.  The design itself follows a more subtle ROG theme with an-all black PCB, black heatsinks and a mesh rear panel cover which features three cooling fans to keep the X570 chipset cool within the rear panel cover. There are also multiple RGB LED lighting zones which users can customize via the ROG Aura Sync software.

Apologies about the blurry image, we will update when we receive a better one

The rear panel of the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact includes five USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. There are two antenna ports for the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface, while the single Ethernet port is powered by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC. Also featured is a reset CMOS switch, an LED debug, and a BIOS Flashback button. On the networking side is an Intel I122-AT Gigabit powered Ethernet port, and also includes the new Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 enabled wireless interface which features support for BT 5 devices. A Realtek SupremeFX S1220 HD 8-channel audio codec offers three 3.5 mm audio jacks and is assisted by an ESS ES9023P HD DAC which is one of the better spec onboard audio setups on the X570 chipset.

ASUS looks to have put a lot of faith in AMD's new Ryzen 3000 series processors by reintroducing a series that held so much weight in the mini-ITX desktop space. The Crosshair VIII Impact isn't likely to be cheap, however, but as it stands, there is no current MSRP at time of writing.

ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

ASUS's Strix brand represents its more mid-range gaming focused offerings and the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming is one of two ATX sized Strix branded boards, with the X570-E being the more premium of the two models; the other being the slightly lower spec ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming. Included is support for two-way NVIDIA SLI and up to three-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics cards configurations, 2.5 Gigabit networking, and a Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface.

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-E includes the gaming-focused Realtek RTL8125G 2.5 Gigabit NIC with a second port controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC. The board's wireless capabilities come from the new Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax adapter. The board boasts three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, with the final four coming directly from the X570 chipset. The Strix themed chipset heatsink has two M.2 heatsinks emanating from the top and bottom side for the boards dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 and has a cooling fan integrated which is designed to keep the X570 chipset cool. The ROG Strix X570-E also has eight SATA ports and four DDR4 memory slots with support for up to 128 GB.

In terms of USB connectivity on the rear panel, there are three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. A SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec powers the five color-coded 3.5 mm jacks, and an S/PDIF optical out, while a pair of video outputs consisting of an HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 output is featured. A handily located BIOS Flashback button and a single USB 3.1 G1 Type-A dedicated to this are clearly highlighted, and the ROG Strix X570-E also benefits from dual Ethernet ports with one being controlled by a Realtek RTL8125-CG 2.5 Gigabit NIC, while the other is driven by an Intel I1211-AT Gigabit NIC. There are also two antenna inputs for the Intel AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface which also adds BT 5 connectivity into the mix.

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming has an MSRP of $330 and represents its bridge between the mid-range and the higher end Crosshair VIII models. With Wi-Fi 6, 2.5 Gigabit + 1 Gigabit NICs and a SupremeFX S1220A HD audio codec and two-way NVIDIA SLI support, users looking for a high-quality ASUS X570 model may not have to look further than the Strix X570-F.

ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming is the slightly feature slimming ATX sibling of the ROG Strix X570-E Gaming with a very similar aesthetic shared between both models, with fewer premium components and is representative of the mid-range segment of its X570 product stack. The most notable features of the Strix X570-F Gaming include two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, eight SATA ports, and an HDMI 2.0b video output on the rear panel. On the design, ASUS has gone with a gaming-inspired which theme of black and grey, with ARGB LEDs implemented into the rear panel cover for a bit of extra flair. The actively cooled X570 chipset heatsink also includes a graffiti-inspired design which fits in with the rest of the board's theme.

On the PCB of the ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming is three full-length PCIe 4.0 ports which are configured to run at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4. This allows users to run up to two-way NVIDIA SLI and three-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card setups. Storage capabilities onboard include two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with a pair of M.2 heatsinks which the PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs are certainly going to appreciate. The board also includes eight SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. The ASUS ROG Strix X570-F also has four memory slots with the capabilities to run up to 128 GB. Memory support isn't known at present, but more information should be available when this model launches, sometime after 7/7.

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-F uses a single Ethernet port controlled by an Intel I1211-AT Gigabit NIC, while the five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output are driven by a SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec. Looking at rear panel USB, there's three USB 3.1 G2Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. Also present on the rear panel is a pair of video outputs consisting of a  DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0b, with a USB BIOS Flashback button that uses a dedicated USB Type-A port which is clearly highlighted on the IO shield.

Similar to the ASUS ROG X570-E Gaming in terms of stylings, the ROG X570-F Gaming drops some key features to offer users looking for the Strix style, but without the larger hit to the wallet. While a few of ASUS's X570 models are doubled up with Wi-Fi enabled and those without, the Strix-X570-F keeps the core layout, but without the cost-laden features such as Wi-Fi 6, and a 2.5 G NIC. The ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming is almost certainly going to cost less than its better equipped X570-E Gaming sibling, but we currently don't have an MSRP at the time of writing, and this model won't be available at launch.

ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming is a small form factor gaming-focused and represents its more mid-range Strix brand. Based on the smaller Mini-ITX form factor, the X570-I Gaming has plenty to shout about including two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots and eight SATA ports which is quite impressive for a small form factor to feature.

There is a single full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot in addition to two memory slots with support for up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory. The aesthetic is similar to the ATX sized X570 Strix models with a graffiti-inspired graphic on the M.2 heatsink, which also extends around to the rear panel cover for a uniformed look. There is RGB LED lighting built into the heatsink, with a strip underneath the right-hand side of the PCB for an ambient styled glow. In terms of storage, the ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming has eight SATA ports and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots; one is located on the front just above the full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot which includes a heatsink, while the other sits on the rear of the boards PCB.

Aimed at the mid to high-end gamers, the ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming has a ROG SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec which powers three 3.5 mm audio jacks, with three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports also on the rear panel. Interestingly ASUS includes a DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 pairing of video outputs on the rear for use with the newly announced AMD Ryzen 3000 series APUs. The ROG Strix X570-I rear panel also has an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC powering the single Ethernet port, as well as an Intel AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface which also includes support for BT 5.

The ASUS ROG Strix X570-I Gaming at present doesn't have an MSRP as isn't being launched with the rest of its product stack, and it represents the only mini-ITX sized model in the line-up; the ROG Crosshair VIII Impact is actually mini-DTX. A mixture of premium components, good storage capabilities and a Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface an attractive model for users looking to build a potent small form factor gaming system.

Both the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus and TUF Gaming X570-Plus WIFI models represent its gaming-inspired entry level; ASUS rebranded the TUF series from durable and robust models, to more accessible models with a more modest outlay when compared to the Strix series. The ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus has an MSRP of $170, while the WIFI enabled version is slightly more expensive with an MSRP of $185.

ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace

The ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace is one of the more interesting models from the launch day X570 models. Firstly it's aimed primarily at professional and workstation users, which is signified in the model number (WS). What makes the ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace so interesting is that its X570 chipset fed bottom full-length PCIe 4.0 slot is wired at x8, and not the conventional PCIe 4.0 x4 as seen on other X570 models. The WS X570-Ace also includes dual Gigabit networking, a premium Realtek ALC1220A HD audio codec, and a PCIe 4.0 U.2 port.

The ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace follows a different design from the rest of its motherboard line-up, with straight angled finned heatsinks, following a uniformed black design with the horizontally placed fins. Compared with the other ASUS X570 models, the overall feature set is a little thin due to its workstation focused design. One of the main focal points of the ASUS WS X570-ACE ATX motherboard includes three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x8, with that last x8 coming from the chipset. with a single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot also present. For most X570 models announced, this is one of the only models to optimize all three full-length slots at a minimum of x8.

Storage options on the Pro WS X570-Ace consist of two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots with a single U.2 port and four SATA ports that feature support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. As with other ATX sized ASUS X570 models, the Pro WS X570-Ace has four memory slots with support for a total capacity of up to 128 GB. Users can also have the option to use either ECC and non-ECC memory which is dependant on the processor installed.

The two Ethernet ports on the rear panel are controlled by an Intel I211-AT and Realtek 8117 which are both Gigabit NICs, while the onboard audio is powered by a Realtek S1220A HD audio codec; this provides five 3.5 mm audio jacks and a S/PDIF optical output. Super fast connectivity is strong with four USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. For users looking to utilize compatible Ryzen APUs, ASUS has included a pair of video outputs consisting of HDMI and a DisplayPort.

The ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace has an MSRP of $380 and shifts focus directly on users looking to create a Ryzen 3000 powered workstation. Its subtle and straight-forward design also makes this a good option for users looking to avoid the more gaming-themed RGB splattered models, and create a somewhat elegant looking system.

ASUS Prime X570-Pro

Moving onto the ASUS Prime series of X570 motherboards, the ASUS Prime X570-Pro represents the more feature-laden of two ATX sized models; the other being the ASUS Prime X570-P. The ASUS Prime X570-Pro represents its less aggressive and non-gaming Prime range with a more subtle white and black aesthetic. The most notable aspects of the feature set include a Realtek S1220A HD audio codec, Gigabit NIC, and support for up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory.

The ASUS Prime X570-Pro offers three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4. This allows for users to use two-way NVIDIA SLI and up to three-way AMD Crossfire multi-graphics card setups. Also present is three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, with the board's storage capabilities coming through two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, with the bottom slot coming with a heatsink; there are also six SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays. In the top right-hand corner is four memory slots with support for up to 128 GB which allows users to install the 32 GB UDIMMs that has started making its way onto the market.

On the rear panel, the ASUS Prime X570-Pro includes three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. Adopters of AMD's impending Ryzen 3000 APUs and the Ryzen 2400/2200G will appreciate the HDMI and DisplayPort video outputs. There is also a PS/2 keyboard and mouse combo port, an Intel I211-AT Gigabit powered Ethernet port, and five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output driven by a Realtek S1220A HD audio codec.

The ASUS Prime X570-Pro has an MSRP of $250 and is more suited to users looking to avoid the swathe of gaming-themed models on the market. What the Prime series offers is elegant and neutral designs, which would actually look quite good with some RGB to make the white rear panel cover pop. There's support for two-way NVIDIA SLI and three-way AMD CrossFire too so users looking to build a more subtly styled gaming system can do so.

ASUS Prime X570-P

Moving onto the second of the ASUS Prime series models, the ASUS Prime X570-P represents an entry-level offering to the X570 chipset with two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots, dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, and a pair of budget-friendly Realtek controllers handling the onboard audio and networking. The most noticeable aspect of the board's design is how bare the PCB looks in contrast to other models from the ASUS X570 product stack.

The chipset heatsink is actively cooled with a white and silver design, while the PCB itself features a white and black design which is a trait of the Prime series itself. The Prime X570-P omits a rear panel cover entirely, and the chipset heatsink is running an 8-phase power delivery for the CPU VCore, with a seemingly adequate looking heatsink from our hands-on with this model at Computex.

On the main features, the ASUS Prime X570-P has two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16 and x16/x4. This is because the Ryzen 3000 series processors feed the top slot, while the bottom full-length slot lanes come directly from the X570 chipset. This means there is support for two-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card configurations, but none for NVIDIA SLI. For storage devices, there are two M.2 slots with support for PCIe 4.0 x4 drives, but users looking to run fast and hot running NVMe drives may need to purchase their own heatsinks as the board doesn't feature them; also included on the Prime X570-P are a total six SATA ports. Memory support is good with four memory slots with support for up to 128 GB with the 32 GB UDIMMs having been qualified by ASUS across its X570 product stack.

As expected with a more wallet-friendly model, the ASUS Prime X570-P rear panel isn't as bare as the lack of a rear panel cover would suggest with four USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports. There are three 3.5 mm audio jacks which are controlled by a Realtek S1200A HD audio codec, a single Ethernet port controlled by a Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit NIC, a PS/2 combo port, and an HDMI video output for users of Ryzen APUs.

The ASUS Prime X570-P sits at the lower end of the X570 product and has an MSRP of $160. This model is designed to allow users a lower cost alternative to benefit from the X570 chipset features such as PCIe 4.0, and more native USB 3.1 G2 Type-A support; this model doesn't feature any Type-C connections, although, given the board's price, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Biostar X570 Racing GT8

As it currently stands, the Biostar X570 Racing GT8 motherboard is the only model from its product stack at the launch of the X570 chipset. Upon speaking to Biostar at Computex, they did go on to say that they will release a mini-ITX model, most likely named the Racing X570GTN; we actually reviewed the previous Biostar X370GTN, and X470GTN AM4 mini-ITX motherboards. The Biostar X570 Racing GT8 has a black and grey PCB, with grey and silver heatsinks and is inspired by motor racing.

The Biostar X570 Racing GT8 ATX motherboard has three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots, with two fed by the CPU supporting x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4 configurations. The bottom full-length slot is fed directly from the X570 chipset and is locked down at x4. There are also three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots available for use. On the black and grey contrasting PCB, with grey heatsinks, Biostar is using a 12-phase power delivery with an 8-pin and 4-pin pairing of 12 V ATX CPU power connectors. In the top-right hand corner of the board is four memory slots with support for up to DDR4-4000, (confirm capacity). On the storage front is three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots with six SATA ports capable of supporting RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays.

On the rear panel are five 3.5 mm audio jacks and a S/PDIF optical output controlled by a Realtek ALC1220 8-channel HD audio codec, with the single Ethernet port which is controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC. For users looking to use AMD's Ryzen APUs, the rear panel also has a set of video outputs including a mini-DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D output. Also present on the rear panel is four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A and four USB 2.0 ports. (confirm USB). Finishing off the rear panel is a PS/2 combo keyboard and mouse port.

The Biostar X570 Racing GT8 has no MSRP as of yet, but we have reached out to Biostar for this information. Its X570 Racing GT8 looks to amalgamate a sporty racing-inspired design into an attractive ATX gaming model, and with a mixed contrast of black, grey and silver, it's not just the companies flagship X570 model, but as of launch day, it's the only model available from Biostar.

Colorful CVN X570 Gaming Pro V14

While not usually a brand found regularly in the western parts of the world, we saw an X570 model from Colorful, or as they are sometimes referred to, iGame. The Colorful CVN X570 Gaming Pro V14 is a little bit of a mouthful to say, but it has a modest feature set onboard with a Realtek Gigabit NIC, two USB 3.1 G2 ports on the rear panel, as well as two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. It's aesthetic is quite clean looking with a black and silver design, with a red accented X570 chipset heatsink fan. The CVN series is inspired by militaristic warfare with previous models from iGame taking its design from US Naval aircraft carriers; this is signified by the fighter jet graphics on the boards PCB.

In the top right-hand corner of the board are four memory slots with support for up to DDR4-3466 memory which pails in comparison to the current compatibility from other vendors, even on the cheaper section of the product stack. There are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4; this means two-way NVIDIA SLI and up to three-way AMD CrossFire is supported. On top of that are two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, while sandwiched between these are two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, each with its own heatsink attached. Also included are six SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays.

On the rear panel is a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A and two USB 2.0 ports. Also featured is a HDMI and DisplayPort pairing of video outputs are present which allows users to use the integrated Vega graphics cores of the Ryzen APUs, while the boards six 3.5 mm audio jacks are powered by an ageing Realtek ALC1150 HD audio codec; not seen one of these used for a very long time on a consumer chipset. The CVN X570 Gaming Pro V14's NIC of choice is the Realtek RTL8118AS Gigabit controller which controls the single Ethernet port on the rear panel.

The Colorful CVN X570 Gaming Pro V14 pricing and availability is currently unknown, but we will update once we receive this information. It does feature an interesting controller set, especially the inclusion of an older Realtek ALC1150 HD codec, which would probably make this model one of the cheapest X570 boards around; one would assume. There is support for two-way NVIDIA SLI and the two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots do include heatsinks but is let down again by the lacklustre memory support (DDR4-3466).

GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Xtreme

Moving onto GIGABYTE's launch day X570 product stack, and it seems to have upped the ante in a number of areas over the previous X470 generation of motherboards. Firstly, GIGABYTE has done a slightly different approach with its power delivery configurations; on paper, they look much higher spec than on previous AM4 models. One prime example of this is in the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Xtreme which as it stands, is the brand's current flagship model, and is feature-packed with numerous premium componentry, as well as a beefy 16-phase power delivery for the CPU. The other unique feature for the X570 Aorus Xtreme is it's currently the only X570 model at launch to passively cool the warm running X570 chipset.

The X570 Aorus Xtreme is the current flagship from GIGABYTE with a large looking 16-phase power delivery for users looking to overclock the latest Ryzen 3000 series processors, as well as a solid high-end feature set. Across the majority of the PCB, we get Aorus themed armor with three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots each with its own heatsink which moulds into the PCB cover. There are also six SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays. The CPU VCore section of the power delivery uses two 8-pin 12 V CPU power inputs to deliver power to the processor.

The chipset heatsink onboard the X570 Aorus Xtreme is also one of the only models so far that relies on passive cooling which is interesting as we know the X570 chipset will run with two variants, an 11 W and 15 W. On the rear panel cover is an Aorus Falcon design, with multiple areas with RGB LEDs that users can customize with the Aorus RGB Fusion software. In the top right-hand corner is a power and reset switch, with a small debug LED, and front panel USB 3.1 G2 Type-C port. There are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with no PCIe 4.0 x1 slots featured on this model. One of the aspects GIGABYTE is known for focusing on with its high-end models is the onboard audio solution. Adding to the implementation of a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec is an ESS Sabre 9218 DAC, with WIMA audio capacitors.

On the rear panel is a large number of inputs and outputs which includes five USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and four USB 2.0 ports. There are two antenna connectors for the integrated Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface, as well as two Ethernet ports which are powered by an Aquantia AQC107 10 G, and Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC pairing. The Realtek ALC1220-VB HD audio codec adds five 3.5 mm audio jacks and an S/PDIF optical output. Also featured is a clear CMOS switch and Q-Flash Plus BIOS flashing button.

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Xtreme is a fine example of what vendors can do for its flagship models on the X570 chipset with plenty of USB 3.1 G2 ports on the rear panel. Dual networking with a 10 G NIC, Wi-Fi 6 capability, and 16-phase power delivery for the CPU make the X570 Aorus Xtreme very attractive. This model has an MSRP of $699 which represents the top end of the X570 product stack at launch, but with everything on offer, it was always expected to be expensive.

GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Master

Moving down the product stack from GIGABYTE's X570 SKU list is the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Master which has a range of high-end features such as 2.5 Gigabit LAN, three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, and Intel's Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface. The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Master could be considered its flagship for general consumers without the hefty price tag attached to the higher grade X570 Aorus Extreme ($699).

Included is support for up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory across its four slots, with support for DDR4-4400 with three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots each with its own individual M.2 heatsink, and six SATA ports. There are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, with a single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. On the power delivery front, GIGABYTE is using a formidable setup with a 12+2 design with power stages rated for 50 A, and with two 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power inputs. The boards aesthetic is focused on the outer edges with a rear panel cover with RGB LEDs which stretches down to the audio PCB. For the X570 chipset, there's an actively cooled chipset heatsink which encompasses the Aorus Falcon into the design.

The onboard audio is handled by a Realtek ALC1220-VB HD audio codec and is complemented by an ESS Sabre 9118 DAC chip to enhance the auditory quality. This equates to five 3.5 mm audio jacks with a single S/PDIF optical output. Also on the rear panel is a Q-Flash Plus button for updating the firmware, a clear CMOS button, three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A and four USB 2.0 ports. The board's rear panel networking capabilities consist a Realtek RTL8125AG 2.5 G port with an assisting Intel Gigabit port for dual networking, as well as an Intel AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface which also includes support for BT 5 devices.

GIGABYTE's X570 Aorus Master targets gamers and enthusiasts looking to push their processors further than the rated specifications, as well as offering 2.5 G and Wi-Fi 6 capable networking. The pricing reflects this with a price tag of $359 which puts it in the upper echelon of models, but the price seems fair all things considered.

GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Ultra

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Ultra sits in between the X570 Aorus Master ($359) and the X570 Aorus Pro WIFI ($269) in its current product stack. The X570 Aorus Ultra is however more similar to the X570 Aorus Pro WIFI in terms of feature set with a Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec, an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC, while it shares the same three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots as its more expensive brother in the X570 Aorus Ultra. This model essentially takes some features from both the board above and below in the product stack.

There are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4. This means the X570 Aorus Ultra has support for two-way NVIDIA SLI and up to three-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card configurations. Also present is two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, while the board also benefits from three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots which each comes with its own individual heatsink. For users not adopting M.2, there are six SATA ports which have support for RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays. The four memory slots include support for DDR4-4400 and with a maximum capacity of up to 128 GB. The aesthetics aren't as overbearing as the X570 Aorus Xtreme, but the rear panel cover which extends down to cover the audio PCB does feature integrated RGB LEDs.

On the rear panel is two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, three USB 3.1 G1 Type-A and four USB 2.0 ports. A set of antenna ports for the Intel AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface are present, and the single Ethernet port is controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC. The five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output are controlled by a Realtek ALC1220-VB HD audio codec, while a single HDMI output is featured for users to use Ryzen APUs with integrated graphics.

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Ultra as previously mentioned takes shades from both the model below and above with the three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots of the X570 Aorus Master while keeping the same 12+2 phase power delivery of the X570 Aorus Pro WIFI model. With an MSRP of $299, the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Ultra doesn't include a premium NIC and for the extra $30, the X570 Aorus Master does seem to offer its worth. Users do however have the choice to run with two PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, and the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro WIFI at $269 for $30 less is also an option.

GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro & X570 Aorus Pro WIFI

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro is offered in two versions, with and without Wi-Fi and represents its mid-range product stack with a Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec, Intel Gigabit LAN, and an HDMI 2.0 output on the rear panel. Both models share the same PCB, aesthetics and overall circuitry, with the only difference coming in the wireless connectivity; users can sacrifice Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.0 wireless interface for a small price reduction. The positioning in GIGABYTE's X570 product stack slots it between the more premium X570 Aorus Ultra ($299), and the more cost-effective X570 Aorus Elite ($199 to $209).

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro uses a strong looking 14-phase power delivery which is suitable for enthusiasts looking to squeeze out some extra performance from the new Ryzen 3000 series processors; it should be noted that GIGABYTE is using the same power delivery as the more expensive X570 Aorus Ultra ($299). A total of four RAM slots with support for DDR4-4400 and up to 128 GB sit towards the right-hand side, while the bottom area is dominated by three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4. For storage, there are two M.2 slots each with their own individual heat shields as well as six available SATA ports.

On the rear panel is a single Intel I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet port with a Realtek ALC1220-VB HD audio codec driving the five 3.5 mm audio jacks and the S/DPIF optical output. In terms of rear panel USB, there is single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, three USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and four USB 2.0 ports. A single HDMI 2.0 video output is also present for users looking to utilize one of AMD's Ryzen based APUs, with the X570 Aorus Pro WIFI variant adding antenna connectors for the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface; this also has support for BT 5.0 devices.

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro WIFI has an MSRP of $269 which offers users with a solid feature set, and all-in-all is a slightly cut-down version of the more expensive X570 Aorus Ultra ($299). For the $30 drop in the cost of the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Ultra, the X570 Aorus Pro WIFI drops one of the PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, but for users looking for a model without the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface, the non Wi-Fi enabled X570 Aorus Pro looks set to come in with an MSRP of $259.

GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Elite & X570 Aorus Elite WIFI

Sitting below the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Pro duo is another pair of ATX models, the X570 Aorus Elite and X570 Aorus Elite WIFI. Both share the same PCB and core feature set which includes a 12+2 power delivery, two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with support for two-way AMD CrossFire, and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots. The only difference between the X570 Aorus Elite and X570 Aorus Elite WIFI is that the latter includes an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 802.11ax wireless interface, but for a slightly higher cost.

On the boards aesthetic, GIGABYTE has gone with a subtle black and silver theme with black power delivery heatsinks, and a silver and black X570 chipset heatsink which includes a cooling fan. This model includes two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with the top slot running at x16, and the bottom locked down to x4 which is handled directly by the X570 chipset. The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Elite also has two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots, as well as two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, with the top slot which comes with an M.2 heatsink. For users with SATA based drives, there is a total of six SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. The 12+2 phase power delivery is running from an ISL69138 PWM controller which is operating in 6+1; this model is one of just a handful to include one 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power input for delivering power to the processor.

The rear panel of the X570 Aorus Elite includes two USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and four USB 2.0 ports. There's no USB Type-C available on this model, but there is a single HDMI video output, as well as an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC controlled Ethernet port. The onboard audio which consists of five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output are driven by a Realtek ALC1200 HD audio codec. On the rear panel of the GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Elite WIFI is two antenna adapters for the Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface and also adds BT 5.0 connectivity to the board.

The GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Elite has an MSRP of $199, while the Wi-FI 6 enabled version comes in with an MSRP of $209; that's $10 extra for the same board with an Intel AX200 802.11ax wireless interface. Both models represent a good feature set for a reasonable price, and users looking for a gaming-themed model with a seemingly decent power delivery and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, both these models stake a good claim for good value.

GIGABYTE X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI

The GIGABYTE X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI is the vendors only small form factor model in its X570 product stack. GIGABYTE introduces its X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI model into the mid-range segment with a nice variety of features including a mini-ITX frame with a 6+2 power delivery, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface, and a Realtek ALC1220-VB audio codec.

Firstly, there are two DDR4 memory slots which support up to 64 GB. Storage is provided by four SATA straight-angled ports, with two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, one of which includes a thermal guard which works in collaboration with the actively cooled X570 heatsink; the other is located on the rear of the PCB. The X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI has a single full-length PCIe 4.0 slot which has a coating of metal armor reinforcement. In the top-right corner are two memory slots which support DDR4-440 with a maximum capacity of up to 128 GB. For enthusiasts and performance junkies, the GIGABYTE X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI has an 8-phase power delivery using International Rectifier MOSFETs in a 6+2 configuration. The rear panel cover is also quite elegant with a metal finish further adding an element of premium to the board.

It's the controller set which makes this board a more mid-range offering with a single Intel I211-AT Gigabit port, a Wi-Fi 6 capable Intel AX200 802.11ax interface, as well as a Realtek ALC1220-VB HD audio codec which drives the three 3.5 mm audio jacks. Also on the rear panel is dual HDMI outputs with a DisplayPort too, making this board suitable for multi-display capable for use with Ryzen based APUs. Aside from a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, and Type-C, the rest of the boards USB capabilities come from USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports.

With a solid blend of aesthetics, a neatly packed in active cooled M.2 and X570 chipset heatsink, the GIGABYTE X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI has a decent feature set. The GIGABYTE X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI is also a bit of a mouthful, so I'm not too keen on such a longly named product SKU, but for users looking for a competitively priced mini-ITX model, this board has an MSRP of $219 at launch.

GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X

Currently at the bottom of GIGABYE's gaming-focused product stack is the X570 Gaming X. With a slightly lesser 10+2 power delivery when compared to the X570 Aorus Elite with a 12+2, the X570 Gaming X includes a cheaper Realtek ALC887 audio codec, a Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit NIC, and two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots. On the boards PCB itself is a very funky and unique black and grey theme with triangle shaped accents which extends over the PCB onto the heatsinks. The X570 chipset heatsink includes a cooling fan, while the board has four memory slots with support for DDR4-4000 memory with up to 128 GB.

On the lower half of the GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X is two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16 and x16/x4. The top slot takes its lanes from the CPU, while the bottom full-length slot is locked at x4 from the X570 chipset, while there are also three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots; this means up to two-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card configurations can be used. For storage, the X570 Gaming X has two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots with the top slot coming with a heatsink, and a total of six SATA ports capable of support RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. The X570 Gaming X uses a 10+2 power delivery which is driven by an ISL69147 PWM controller running at 5+2 and uses a single 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power input to delivery power to the processor.

On the rear panel is a relatively basic set of input and outputs with no USB 3.1 G2 connectivity to speak of. What actually is there in terms of USB support is four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A and two USB 2.0 ports. There is a separate pair of PS/2 inputs for legacy keyboard and mice. Finishing off the rear panel on the GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X is a single HDMI video output for users looking to run a compatible Ryzen APU, three 3.5 mm audio jacks that are driven by a Realtek ALC887 HD audio codec, and a Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit controlled Ethernet port.

The GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X is its gaming inspired, but surprisingly natural looking entry model onto the X570 chipset. With an MSRP of $169, it sits as one of the cheapest X570 models at the launch of the Ryzen 3000 processors, and with a wallet-friendly feature set with everything needed to make use of PCIe 4.0, it's a viable option for entry-level users. The only glaring issue is that there is no USB 3.1 G2 ports at all on the rear panel, and other models from other vendors at the same entry-level price point does include some.

MSI MEG X570 Godlike

Swinging around onto MSI's X570 product stack and we open up with its most premium and ultimately the flagship, the MSI MEG X570 Godlike. The MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE is its flagship X570 motherboard designed for both enthusiasts and gamers with a range of high-end controllers, accessories, and also features a 20-phase power delivery; 14-phase for the CPU VCore and 4-phase for the VGT/SoC.

The X570 chipset on MSI motherboards including this model is actively cooled by a single fan featuring double ball bearing technology which MSI is calling Zero Frozr. Aesthetically the MEG X570 Godlike is impressive and even features an OLED screen which is implemented between the four DDR4 memory slots and the 24-pin ATX 12 V motherboard power input. The four memory slots have support for DDR4-4800 and up to 128 GB of total system memory. Touching on the accessories bundle included with the X570 Godlike is an Aquantia AQC107 10 GbE add-in card and M.2 Xpander-Z Gen4 M.2 PCIe add-on card which allows users to add an additional two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 drives on top of the three PCIe 4.0 x4 slots that are present on the board.  Each onboard M.2 slot includes its own individual Lightning Gen4 M.2 heatsink.

The MSI MEG X570 Godlike comes with an M.2 Xpander-Z Gen4 and Aquantia 10 G NIC add-on card

The MSI MEG X570 Godlike's PCB is four full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x0/x8, and x8/x4/x4, with the last full-length slot locked down to PCIe 4.0 x4. This means both two-way NVIDIA SLI and up to four-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card setups. A lot of focus has also been put enthusiasts with its 16-phase power delivery for the VCore; this power delivery uses Infineon TDA21472 MOSFETs with IR3599 doublers and runs from an IR35201 Digital PWM controller. Providing power to the CPU is two 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power inputs setting the Godlike up as MSI's most enthusiast-level desktop board for any AMD platform in recent times.

Looking at the rear panel of the X570 Godlike, there are three USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, and two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports. Commonly featured on premium models, the MSI MEG X570 Godlike also has a pre-installed rear panel IO shield. Also present is a Flash BIOS button with a highlighted Type-A port dedicated to firmware flashing, as well as a Clear CMOS button, and a PS/2 combo port. The onboard audio is powered by two Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codecs with five 3.5 mm jacks and S/PDIF optical output, MSI has included an ESS E9018 DAC for good measure, which also adds a dedicated 6.3 mm jack for studio headphones which is included in the accessories bundle. The rear panel has two Ethernet ports with a Killer pairing consisting of an E3000 2.5 G, and E2600 Gigabit NIC.

The MSI MEG X570 Godlike E-ATX motherboard has an MSRP of $699 which for everything that is included is quite impressive. With an impressive accessories bundle which includes an Aquantia AQC107 10 G NIC add-on card, an Xpander-Z Gen4 M.2 card which adds a scope for an additional two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 drives to be installed bringing to total to five is also a nice touch. It's not a cheap investment, but it's an impressive option for gamers, enthusiasts, and hardware aficionados looking to create a high-end system using Ryzen 3000.

MSI MEG X570 Ace

Our full review of the MSI MEG X570 Ace is currently live with many more X570 models set to be fully reviewed and analyzed over the next couple of months.

The MSI MEG X570 Ace motherboard represents its premium MEG range and as we've seen from its range on the Intel Z390 chipset, MSI has followed the same naming structure for users to easily identify which each range signifies. The X570 Ace benefits from an Intel Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface, a Realtek 2.5 G NIC, three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, and a 12+2 power delivery. Like all of MSI's X570 product stack with four memory slots, there is support for up to 128 GB of RAM.

The board has four DDR4 memory slots with support for up to DDR4-4600, three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, with an additional two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Built into the X570 chipset heatsink is a cooling fan which uses MSI's Zero Frozr design as the X570 chipset has a rated TDP of up to 15 W. Providing power to the CPU is two 8-pin 12 V ATX power inputs, while the power delivery is using an extended 8 to 6.5 mm heat pipe which extends from the power delivery directly down to the chipset. The MEG X570 Ace has three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, each with its own individual Lightning Gen4 M.2 heatshield which amalgamates into the boards black and gold designed heatsinks. Like the MSI MEG X570 Godlike, MSI's RGB Infinity Mirror 2 is present on the rear panel cover to allow users to customize the look of the board.

On the rear panel of the MSI MEG X570 Ace motherboard, there's a clear CMOS, and BIOS flashing button which has its own dedicated USB 3.1 G1 Type-A slot highlighted with a red outline. There are three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A ports, a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. Networking capability consists of a Realtek RTL8125AG 2.5 GbE NIC with the other Ethernet port being controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC. This model also includes integrated Wi-Fi with an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface which also offers users with Bluetooth 5 connectivity. The five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output are driven by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec.

The MSI MEG X570 Ace in terms of price and feature set is quite impressive and with an MSRP of $369 which makes it a highly competitive when compared with other models in its price range. The need for MSI to upgrade its networking capabilities on desktop motherboards is something they have started to implement, and the rear panel on the X570 Ace is also without video outputs so users looking to use Ryzen based APUs will need to look elsewhere.

MSI MEG X570 Unify

The MSI MEG X570 Unify combines sleek and uniformed all-black aesthetics without the swathes of RGB LEDs which some users find garish. With similar specifications to the MSI MEG X570 Ace which we reviewed at launch, the MEG X570 Unify takes a more direct approach with some very interesting features. Not only has MSI dropped all of the fancy plastic on the rear panel cover and removes the integrated RGB LEDs, but the power delivery heatsink is incorporated into the large aluminium rear panel cover to create a massive and robust cooling solution for power users; the X570 Unify is using a 14-phase power delivery design and two 8-pin 12 V ATX connectors for power. The Unify is more focused towards enthusiasts and represents MSI's higher-tier of X570 models.

Looking at the core feature set, the MSI MEG X570 Unify includes three PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots which each come with individual heatsinks for improved cooling performance when used with NVMe based drives. Also included four SATA ports and for the networking, included is a Realtek RTL8125 2.5 G NIC with an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface. On the rear panel, there is a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec with three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports. Also present is a clear CMOS button, a Flash BIOS button, and a PS/2 combo port. There are three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4, as well as two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Supported memory speeds allow for DDR4-4600 and up to 128 GB to be installed.

Everything about this model screams enthusiast, but without all of the bells and whistles of the MEG X570 Ace. The MSI MEG X570 Unify even managed to push a Ryzen 9 3900X to 5857.01 MHz which is the current highest frequency for this processor on HWBot. That sends a very clear message that this model is suited for overclocking, but still provides users with the same premium desktop motherboard features as other competitive models in its product segment. At present, there is no pricing information available, but it's likely to cost around the same as the MSI MEG X570 Ace ($370).

MSI Prestige X570 Creation

The MSI Prestige X570 Creation is designed with content creators and enthusiasts in mind with similar aesthetics to its HEDT counterpart, the MSI X399 Creation, and implements them onto an E-ATX sized consumer desktop model. On the rear panel cover is a funky RGB enabled design, with the creation logo being the centrepiece. This covers the large power delivery heatsink which features an extended design from around the MOSFETs, down the side of the memory slots and into the chipset heatsink. The X570 chipset heatsink also includes a cooling fan, while the two M.2 heatsinks are moulded into the board's design.

Across the PCI area is a PCB cover which gives the X570 Creation a premium look as it also blends into the aesthetic of the chipset heatsink. Included is three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which run at x16, x8/x8, and x8/x8/x4 as well as four PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. This means that the X570 Creation supports up to three-way AMD CrossFire, and two-way NVIDIA SLI multi-graphics card configurations. The MSI Prestige X570 Creation is using a 14+2 power delivery with two 8-pin 12 V ATX CPU power inputs, and a single 24-pin 12 V ATX motherboard power input designed to power the board. Storage options include two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, with six SATA ports. In the top-right hand corner are four memory slots with support for DDR4-4600, and up to 128 GB.

MSI's Prestige X570 Creation has one of the most impressive rear panels for USB 3.1 Gen2 connectivity. The X570 Creation has eleven USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A, and a single USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port. There's also two USB 2.0 ports and a PS/2 combo port. Also included are two Ethernet ports with one controlled by a 10 GbE Aquantia AQC107 NIC, with the other being controlled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC; also featured is an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 wireless interface. The board's onboard audio is handled by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec which gives users five 3.5 mm audio jacks and a S/PDIF optical output on the rear panel.

The MSI Prestige X570 Creation represents more elegant range directed towards content creators and professional users. Although this model is the only E-ATX sized offering from MSI at present on X570, the rear panel includes the most impressive selection of USB 3.1 G2 Type-A ports of any model on the chipset with a total of twelve; eleven Type-A and one Type-C. This coupled with a 14+2 phase power delivery, support for DDR4-4533, and an MSRP of $499, this could be the most attractive of all the higher-end X570 models at launch.

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI marks a shift from the company offering two versions of the same model: one with Wi-Fi and one without - this board is only available with Wi-Fi, This model represents its top tier gaming focused model, and its notable features include two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec, Intel Gigabit NIC, and a Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface.

On the aesthetic of the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI motherboard, it includes a black carbon inspired design with a uniformed X570 chipset heatsink with the two M.2 heatsinks fitting in well with the rest of the board. Both the PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots include their own individual M.2 heatshield and the Frozr chipset heatsink which includes a fan which means the X570 chipset is actively cooled. In the top right-hand corner of the PCB is four RAM slots with support for up to DDR4-4400 with up to 128 GB of capacity. In addition to the two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, MSI has also included six SATA ports; four with right-angled connectors, and two straight-angled located directly below the chipset heatsink. Included are two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots which operate at x16 and x8/x4 which allows users to use two way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics configurations. There are also two additional PCIe 3.0 x1 slots.

MSI is using Intel's new AX200 802.11ax Wi-Fi adapter with speeds capable of up to 2.4 Gbps and antenna ports are included on the rear panel. The rear panel also includes three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports. Also on the rear panel is an HDMI video output for users looking to install a Ryzen based APU, a PS/2 combo port and a BIOS flashback button. This is in addition to an Intel I211-AT Gigabit NIC controlling the single Ethernet port.

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI has an MSRP of $259 which puts it right into the mid-range market segment. With a range of features, an integrated Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interface and a neutral aesthetic, it looks pretty good. The only niggle is that other vendors for the same price are implementing better NICs such as Realtek's RTL8125 2.5 Gigabit NIC and based on that, other models could make more appeal. The MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon, however, is a no-frills and no fuss option for gamers to sink their teeth into.

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WIFI

Moving down the product stack and we come to the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WIFI which sits below the X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI with much of the same features, but with a lower-cost controller set. The main features include one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot, six SATA ports. and an 802.11ac wireless interface. Up to DDR4-4400 is also supported with a total capacity of up to 128 GB across the four available memory slots.

The MPG X570 Gaming Edge WIFI offers a more modest variety of specifications which bridges the gap between the X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI ($259) and the more cost-effective X570 Gaming Plus ($169). Its design is similar to the MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI in that it has a black PCB, but without the carbon inspired decorations on the heatsinks. There are two PCIe 4.0 x4 slots with the top slot including a heatsink, while the bottom slot doesn't, and six SATA ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays. A total of two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with which run at x16, and x8/x8 with support for two-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card setups, and four DDR4 memory slots that support up to DDR4-4400. The two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots operate at x16, and x16/x4 which means NVIDIA SLI isn't supported, but users can utilize two-way AMD CrossFire setups.

On the rear panel is a pre-installed rear panel I/O shield with five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output powered by a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec. For general connectivity, there is three USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports. Also present is an HDMI video output for use with compatible AMD Ryzen APUs, as well as a BIOS flashback button, and a PS/2 combo port. Networking wise, there are two antenna ports for the included Intel 3168 802.11ac Wi-Fi interface which is capable of speeds of up to 433 Mbps, while the single Ethernet port is controlled by a Realtek RTL811H Gigabit NIC.

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WIFI represents a more modest offering in the line-up with an MSRP of $209 which is down to a couple of component choices such as the cheaper Realtek Gigabit NIC instead of the usual Intel variant, as well as no support for NVIDIA SLI configurations.

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus

The MPG X570 Gaming Plus is MSI's entry-level gaming model and It's equipped with a modest feature set which includes with one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, and two-full length PCIe 4.0 slots with support for two-way AMD CrossFire multi-graphics card setups.

Firstly the aesthetic is based on a traditionally recognized red and black theme; this design extends from the heatsinks onto the PCB. The chipset heatsink cooling the X570 chip includes a cooling fan for optimal performance, while the power delivery heatsinks are separated from each other to provide cooling to the CPU VCore. There are 8-pin and 4-pin 12 V ATX CPU power inputs to delivery power to the processor, while the power delivery is running at 8+2 design with an International Rectifier IR35201 PWM controller.

Located in the top right-hand corner of the board are four memory slots which support DDR4-4400, with up to a maximum capacity of up to 128 GB. Moving down the PCB is two full-length PCIe 4.0 slots that operate at x16, and x16/x4, with an additional three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. There are two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, with one of the slots coming with a heatsink; there are also six SATA ports present.

On the rear panel are a single USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports. A single HDMI video output gives the capability to use an AMD Ryzen APU, while a Flash BIOS button and a PS/2 combo port are also featured. Even MSI's entry-level gaming option includes the premium Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec which provides five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output, while a Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit NIC controls the single Ethernet port.

The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus is the entry-level model to the X570 chipset from its product stack which also has a clear gaming look about it. With a red and black design, it's a throwback to MSI of more recent times, but the board has no integrated RGB which users may find slightly disappointing. The power delivery although adequate, probably isn't the best around for overclocking aRyzen 3000 processor to its limits, but with an MSRP of $169, it's horses for courses.

MSI X570-A Pro

Moving along to the last of MSI's seven deep X570 product stack is the entry-level MSI X570-A Pro. For users not looking to spend the $200 + for gaming branded boards and looking for more office-based and professional use, the MSI X570-A Pro includes a decent core feature set which includes the same 8+2 power delivery as the MPG X570 Gaming Plus ($169), but with basic design. Also included is a Gigabit NIC, DDR4-4400 support, and one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot.

On the MSI X570-A Pro is two full-length PCIe 4.0 which operate at x16, and x8/x4, and three PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Also featured is one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot, but this slot doesn't come included with a heatsink; a total of six SATA ports make up the rest of the board's storage options. This model is very resemblant of the X570 Gaming Plus, but with a more professional look with its all-black theme, but without RGB or red accented heatsinks. On the X570 chipset heatsink is a cooling fan, and the X570-A Pro also has four memory slots with support for DDR4-4400 and up to a maximum of 128 GB. It also shares the same 8+2 power delivery as the X570 Gaming Edge WIFI and X570 Gaming Plus models, and also includes an 8-pin and 4-pin pair of 12 V ATX CPU power inputs.

MSI's X570-A Pro includes one USB 3.1 G2 Type-A, one USB 3.1 G2 Type-C, two USB 3.1 G1 Type-A, and two USB 2.0 ports on its rear panel. A clear CMOS switch is present, along with an HDMI video output, and a PS/2 combo port. The single Ethernet port is controlled by a Realtek RTL8111H Gigabit NIC, while the five 3.5 mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output are powered by a premium Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec.

The MSI X570-A Pro as it stands is the cheapest model from its X570 product stack with an MSRP of $159. It's solid and uniformed all-black look is very simplistic, and users not looking for NVIDIA SLI support and more than two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots will find this as an attractive model. This no-frills and inexpensive (compared to some others) makes this one of the cheaper entry points onto the X570 chipset for users looking to benefit from X570's features such as PCIe 4.0.

Choosing The Right X570 Motherboard

Overall, there are more than 35 X570 motherboards available just as part of the first wave of designs. And there will be quite a few more to be announced later on, such as the ASRock X570 Taichi Ultimate, Biostar's mini-ITX X570GTN and a number of models from ASUS. This can be a lot to dig through.

Selecting the right motherboard comes down to personal preferences and needs, and there are many different variables to consider as part of that process. This includes the number of M.2 slots onboard, SATA ports, support for NVIDIA SLI, etc. The vast majority of boards come with a strong feature set, which is to be expected from a premium desktop platform such as X570. This is no small part due to vendors finally bringing their high-end feature sets to AMD boards, on the heels of AMD's success in the market with the first and second generations of Ryzen processors.

So, similar to what we did in our previous Intel Z390 round-up from last year, we've taken some of the most common requirements when choosing the foundation for a new system, and narrowed them down to help users select a board based on specific features.

Overall, vendors have a lot of flexibility here for the X570 generation of boards. With support for more chipset USB 3.1 G2 lanes, as well as 12 to 16 flexible PCIe 4.0 lanes, motherboard makers have plenty of I/O for adding features and playing around with their PCIe/M.2 slot configurations. This modular system allows vendors to quickly create different types of boards based on the product's target market, trading off between SATA ports and various ways to use PCIe lanes. For example, a vendor can select to add two blocks of 4 x SATA ports for boards looking to offer superior storage capabilities, while the remaining 8 flexible PCIe 4.0 lanes being set aside for devices such as x4 M.2 slots. Then on top of all this, additional controllers can be added.

Finally, it's interesting to note that vendors have been surprisingly consistent in implementing the latest Intel and Realtek Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax wireless interfaces, both of which also include support for BT 5. Even counting "duplicate" designs in the total, a full 18 of the 35 launch boards have some form of Wi-Fi support.

Normally we would also note which boards include a Realtek ALC1220 HD audio codec in the table, but it's actually quicker and easier to list which boards don't have it, as it's now a regular feature across most X570 boards. Only a limited number of boards in the entry-level segment feature a non-ALC1220 codec.

The other big variable to consider when selecting between the various motherboards is price. As with any other motherboard lineup, you have the entry-level models which usually offer a good mixture of mid-range controller selections, but with cut down features. The mid-range models usually include a strong premium controller set, but with other cost-reducing variables such as fewer M.2 slots and less heatsink space on the board.

The premium flagship models go all-out, offering as much as they can cram onto the PCB. Of course, it's unfair to compare a $199 board to a $699 board without also appreciating the step up in refinements such as the power delivery, extra controllers such as 10 G/5 G/2.5 G NICs, and other integrated features.

All of the boards we've covered today, with the exception of the Colorful CVN X570 Pro V14, are set to be available to buy this week in the USA, EU, and the UK, across various retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, Overclockers UK, etc. There may be other models available for other parts of the world such as the Asian market which we haven't covered, but none of these was announced during the unveiling of the X570 chipset at Computex 2019.

A much talked about feature on the X570 products is the implementation of an actively cooled chipset which has raised questions on noise, how hot the X570 chipset actually runs, and why it runs so hot. Adding PCIe 4.0 lanes over PCIe 3.0 currently requires a higher power draw and is the primary reason for the 11 W TDP that the X570 chipset has. So far only one model in the entire X570 product stack has a passively cooled heatsink, the flagship GIGABYTE X570 Aorus Xtreme, so it will be interesting to see how the heatsink compares to other boards.

ASRock X570 Product Stack

Starting alphabetically, ASRock has 10 different X570 models, with a single E-ATX sized board in the form of the limited edition X570 Aqua. The company also has one mini-ITX board with Thunderbolt 3, and the only mATX board in the entire X570 product stack (at launch), the X570M Pro4.

One board that dominates with features is the flagship ASRock X570 Aqua, which includes an Aquantia AQC107 10 G NIC, two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slots, and 8 SATA ports. The Phantom Gaming series also makes a reappearance with its flagship gaming model, the X570 Phantom Gaming X. This board includes a Realtek RTL8125-AG 2.5 G NIC, and the Wi-Fi enabled models adding an Intel AX200 802.11ax wireless interface.

There is no X570 Taichi Ultimate as of yet, but it's expected to come out after launch. Meanwhile, the standard X570 Taichi model does make an appearance in the product stack. Also making a reappearance is the X570 Steel Legend, which is essentially the X570 Extreme4 with a different aesthetic design, and the X570/X570M Pro4 models which are generally targeted more towards professional users.

ASUS X570 Product Stack

Moving onto the ASUS models, there are a total of 12 models to select from, which is the largest array of any vendor at launch. This is due to certain models being "doubled up", with both WI-Fi and non-Wi-Fi versions available for the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero and TUF Gaming X570-Plus. The Wi-Fi enabled variants to come with an Intel AX200 802.11ax wireless controller, which is the only difference between to the versions without Wi-Fi.

The flagship ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula includes an EKWB water block for the power delivery system, all the while the range filters down to the mini-DTX sized ROG Crosshair VIII Impact, which is sure to please extreme overclockers and small form factor enthusiasts. The majority of ASUS's X570 product stack includes three or more USB 3.1 G2 ports on the rear panel, which is nice to see, and this includes the cheaper Prime series models too. Also included on the vast majority of the ASUS X570 product stack are eight (or more) SATA ports; handy for users looking to make use of the X570 chipset's support of RAID 0, 1, and 10 arrays.

The other models in the range include the mid-range Strix series with three boards – two ATX and one mini-ITX – and the ASUS TUF Gaming caters to the gamers looking for more a more affordable option. For non-gamers, there's the anticipated ASUS Pro WS X570-Ace, which incorporates three full-length PCIe 4.0 slots with x8 or better bandwidth, which should be particularly useful for building out systems with lots of accelerators. Other boards include a pair of Prime series parts, with the Prime X570-Pro and the lower spec but ultimately cheaper Prime X570-P.

GIGABYTE X570 Product Stack

GIGABYTE has a total of 9 X570 models at launch, with their top board being the E-ATX sized X570 Aorus Extreme. This board bundles a number of high-end features, including an Aquantia AQC107 10 G NIC and a large 16-phase power delivery system, and interestingly enough it's also the only board so far to feature a passively cooled X570 chipset. Meanwhile, all but one of GIGABYTE's boards come from its Aorus gaming brand, including a single mini-ITX model in the X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI, which is a cut-down version of its ATX sized X570 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi.

Moving down the product stack from the Xtreme, Master, Ultra, Pro, and Elite, is the entry-level GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X. This is the only board not to hail from the Aorus series, and it includes a more wallet-friendly feature set. From the X570 Aorus Pro/Aorus Pro WIFI and up the product stack, each model includes three or more USB 3.1 G2 ports on the rear panel. It's also worth noting that for users looking for a lot of SATA ports, no board in GIGABYTE's product stack includes more than six.

MSI X570 Product Stack

The last of the major motherboard vendors are MSI, and it has the smallest product stack out of the big four, with just 7 X570 boards at launch. Usually coming out with one of the larger product stacks, MSI has condensed its range a bit, as the MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI and X570 Gaming Edge WIFI does not have non-Wi-Fi variants like on we've seen on previous chipsets. Both these boards sit in the mid-range segment, while the company has a trio of high-end models, including the two enthusiast models: the MEG X570 Godlike, and MEG X570 Ace. Otherwise the new Prestige X570 Creation is aimed at content creators and professionals, and it has the best USB-laden rear panel of any X570 board thus far.

Moving down the MSI product stack is the MPG X570 Gaming Plus, which represents good value for money thanks to a decent feature set that doesn't break the bank. There is also the entry-level and professional focused MSI X570-A Pro, which drops the gaming theme of the other models (barring the Creation) and looks to offer users a solid entry-point into the X570 platform. The MSI MEG X570 Godlike also has one of the best feature/accessory bundles of any X570 board, with a dual PCIe 4.0 x4 slot (Xpander-Z) add-on card, as well as a Super LAN Aquantia AQC107 10 G NIC.

Other X570 Product Stack Options

Other X570 boards outside of the usual vendors include the X570 Racing GT8 from Biostar, which they actually blundered with and leaked way ahead of the X570 launch. Biostar also has plans to release a mini-ITX board later this year, a follow on of the X470GTN that's most likely to be called the X570GTN.

Last but not least on the list is the US Navy-inspired Colorful CVN X570 Gaming Pro V14, which we got hands-on with at Computex 2019. We expect that the Colorful model will be available primarily in the Asian market.
