I love Wang so this is a great turnaround for the company, it may stiffen their otherwise enfeebled market.

I'm sure we'll see a hardened position form HTC and a pursuit for obscure markets now.

It would be interesting to see if they get a special edition called "m8's wang edition".

    Cheers! :P

we have to make a petition to see this phone made

    HTC Wang M8?

Indeed, in such a competitive market, charging ahead with Wang may prove to be quite potent. Ramming head on and entering tight niches in today's fully connected space is critical to HTC's success. It wouldn't surprise me to see HTC at the top of the pole position after erecting this shift in change of member.

    lol, innuendo overload. +1

This isn't a turnaround, it's a replacement of the CEO, likely because they've lost confidence in his managing the company, despite the marketing of the announcement.

HTC is in big trouble. I hope they pull out of it.

    subtle

    @dragantoe:

I see what you did there.

Personally, I think choosing Wang may make the company go terminal.

Peter Chou is just out , that's a position that he'll leave soon. It's at least 1-2 years late but maybe it's not too late.

Hopefully HTC will now get its shit together and kill off numerous low and midrange devices, that make absolutly no sense while being priced poorly.

"connected devices" is a segment that has failed to excite anyone for years. I hope HTC doesn't throw themselves under a bus, they actually make quite good phones.

yeah you hear lots of talk but there isn't much to be sold en-masse.

I think HTC has been firing on all cylinders for about 2 years now, I hope this doesn't mean that trend is going to change.

Charging in the wrk g direction. Let's face it, their sales are way down, they've been losing money, and the brand is damaged.
  • melgross - Friday, March 20, 2015 - link

    That is: wrong direction.

Hopefully HTC can Wang Chung with the new CEO.
Otherwise, it is simply slammed from above and below by its Android competitors.

Silly HTC, only Apple can get away with incrementing the product name and releasing the same device again. M9 with a broken Snapdragon 810 and worse screen is a fail.

Also I wonder how badly they got soaked on the Re Camera periscope camera thingy.
