    Hardly made a difference

At peak the difference was 20%. At worst it was -2%. But, again, what's really the hot thing here is that Archos is working to make this product as good as they can get it. The shipped software isn't the end of the equation for them. And they're not just interested in providing major updates, they want to tweak and refine their software while it's in the wild. This update didn't just correct a previous mistake, it involved altering GPU behaviors to ensure that the higher GPU clock would perform reliably. And from our discussions it's clear that there'll be more updates between now and their next 4.x sized update. You don't hear that from other companies.

Where "one of the best supported" = an update to the latest OS 5 months after its release. Android device update support is in a truly wretched state; but hopefully Archos can lead the way in improving that. Committing to updates throughout the next device's lifecycle is a good first step.
