In my desktop observations, the I/O die power draw is very low when not in PCIe 4.0 mode. So, when running an older GPU (2070 in one case), when running 3.0 SSDs, and when idling and power saving, even with newer 4.0 devices. I have no idea if that translates to mobile, but it could.
To be honest, I'm shocked they didn't opt for a monolithic approach and instead used desktop components to power 16 threads. This was completely out of the blue, but I really enjoy it.
Really disappointing the 8 core only boosts to 4500. I don't want to buy a 16 core that sucks down my battery just so I can get a proper single core boost. The 35-45W TDP 8 cores from the 6000 gen were in a perfect sweet spot. Now they've jacked up TDP and there's an almost 1GHZ(!) difference in single core boost between the 16 core and 8 core. That shouldn't be the case.

Error in the table: the 7845HX is 12 core.Ryan Smith - Thursday, January 5, 2023 - link
Thanks! Fixed.Khanan - Thursday, January 5, 2023 - link
I’m actually very surprised they didn’t go monolithic for the 16 cores and just took the desktop parts. Unexpected but I like it still.techjunkie123 - Thursday, January 5, 2023 - link
Battery life might be really bad...isn't the idle power draw from the IO die very high? I hope they made some changes to the package to address that.Khanan - Thursday, January 5, 2023 - link
Yes but it’s for desktop replacement laptops anyway, so mostly connected to power.meacupla - Saturday, January 7, 2023 - link
yeah, I would love to see the 7945HX paired with a discrete GPU in a miniPCerotomania - Friday, January 20, 2023 - link

> Leading the charge is the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX with 16-cores and 32-threads and an incredible boost frequency of 5.7 GHzShould say 5.4 GHz?
