1080p @27" is fine but 1440p would be ideal for sure at this size. Unless you have your nose pressed up against the screen 1080p will work ok. If you sit back at the proper distance that is.
Heck I play on a 60" Samsung HDTV but sit back about 12 feet from it on the couch and it looks pretty good for such a big screen. Before that I used to play on a 125" 1080p screen from my theater projector but sat about 22 feet back from it and it looked good from that distance and movies looked even better because of the size of the screen. The only reason I switched to the TV upstairs was because the projector is down stairs and it kinda got lonely down there with everyone else in the house all upstairs all of the time...lol
Your tv is probably 4k and you sit way further back so the pixels wouldn't be nearly as noticable and projectors dont suffer from the same issues that come with a low ppi.
I have a 27in 1440p monitor and sit at a normal sized desk and in some cases the pixels are very noticeable but for gaming I never notice it.
I love 1080p at 27'', its completely perfect for my eyes, viewing distance and general software UI and font sizes, my gaming performance also is fantastic. Until 34'' 4k 144hz can be driven by GPU's that don't cost the price of a car, 27'' 1080p will be my favorite combo.
Not seeing what you mean here. 34" 4K is higher pixel density than 27" 1440p, so unless you're planning on running scaling anyways things are going to be smaller.
Try pushing 200fps on a AAA game on a regular pc.. Good luck with that, running 240fps? Yea I don't think so.
Test bench: a 2018 i7 and a 1080Ti Game: assetto Corsa maxed out.
Maxed out in menu, in game around 170-190 maybe spiking to 200-220 depending on lighting.
In an online game with lots of cars? No not at all, 240 solid is not easy, especially online.
Which is what you'll need to appreciate this monitor.
Best case for this monitor, you play CSGO and you have a 980 upwards.
If you expect tomb raider, star wars, project cars 2, AC or AC competizione to play at 240 fps, you're dreaming. You'll need a top top rig and if like me you do, then you won't want to play in 1080p you'll want an ultra wide display or a triple monitor setup.
If you're an e-sports gamer then you wouldn't game at 1080p either
Strange, I'm failing to see who this monitor is for?
I love Acer they make mad things for no one but people still buy them, me included i for the Acer z35 as it's perfect for fps game and racing..
You failing to see who the monitor is for doesn't mean there isn't an enormous market for it. Every single high demand 1080p monitor on AT gets these comments, and every time they're based on ignorance.
The target market is eSports games. It's a big big market. CS:GO, Overwatch, League of Legends, Fortnite, Apex etc. Consistent high fps, low motion blur, low input lag.
1080p is needed to reach consistent 240fps. Some people in the target demographic prefer 24/5", others 27". That's all there is to it.
Torn between this and the Alienware 25 AW2521HF 24.5, both are out of stock the Alienware having no ETA. Ordered the Acer (available early July) first but cancelled as it had no reviews on Youtube and then ordered the AW2521HF which has VERY good video reviews.

1080p at 27" and larger is silly.sircolby45 - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link
Agreed...I think 4K is pointless at 27", but likewise 1080p is too low. 1440p is the sweet spot.DabuXian - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link
4K at 27" is awesome, with 150% scaling you get as much space as 1440p, but with a much sharper image.mattkiss - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link
"150% scaling you get as much space as 1440p"I'm not sure what you mean here. Not trying to be critical of your comment, I am just not familiar with resolution scaling in modern games. :)

Scaling is always problematic. You should try to avoid it like the plague.rocky12345 - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link

True, 1440p is ideal but I prefer 4K 27" because I can watch Netflix 4K in my room.TheWereCat - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link
Depends on how far from the screen you sit. Some people like having deep desks.koniord - Friday, March 6, 2020 - link

E-sports players aren't focused on fancy ray-traced graphics. It's performance first.PeachNCream - Saturday, March 7, 2020 - link
Heh, e-sports. Even chess has more credibility when claiming the word sport in association with itself.Gamesturbator - Thursday, June 11, 2020 - link
