"We've been informed that users can get a 10% discount with PLEXTORMAS promo code at Newegg for a short while."
Saw the 512GB M8Pe without heatsink go for $190 on Newegg on Black Friday, should have picked it up when I had the chance. Still waiting for it to hit that price again.
If you want it, might as well buy it now. As a tech product by the time it matches its last black friday price again, it'll be obsolescent and much less desirable because of whatever has superseded it.
In case anyone didn't catch the recent headlines, Toshiba just lost 32% market share in the past five days due to its US nuclear power division (subsidiary allegedly overpaid for an acquisition). In any event, a few articles I read mentioned that due to this and past recent large write downs (2005 accounting scandal), their NAND division was a prime target for sale in the event they cash and couldn't raise it via shares or bonds.
I'd be interested to see if that comes to pass and who bids on it. There's only a few major players that own modern fabs and patents like Toshiba does. Who might swoop in and pick that up if they can get a deal?
