Will definitely watch this space. Though I'm not a huge fan of Samsung's chassis design, these look very competitive, and might entice me enough to purchase - matte screens!
Really want to upgrade my 4yo lappy and these machines are drool worthy. I hope that when you guys get a unit to review that the kb/tp matches the quality of the screen. If so, this will be on my short list to look at.
What other machines are going to have 1600x900 (or higher) that you know for sure? Asus UX31, Samsung Series 9, HP Spectre... any others??
You guys really should start placing captions in your image galleries. It's so hard to tell which is what when Samsung's industrial designs all nearly look the same. This goes for your other galleries in general as well. =/
Man, I'm sad to see 11" or 12" versions of anything disappear. As a desktop user, those are the sizes that make the most sense to me as ultra-portable complementary machines you can throw in any bag...

I think that similar products / future revisions of Windows 7 tablets + keyboard docks like Iconia W500, Transformer Prime with Windows 8 or MSI Windpad 110W will be your 11" notebook replacement come 2012-13.
I would hope samsung would sort the AMD GPU switning problem on the existing Chronos series 7 laptops. (14 and 15 inch model)
Many members at notebook review have had problems with GPU switching that does not work. I returned my Samsung back to where I purchased it from yesterday as the HD also failed as well as the GPU switching problem. I also demonstrated to the staff on 2 display model 7 series laptops that the AMD GPU switching does not work. I would make ann intelligent guess that this problem effects most if not all the Samsung chronos models. Many consumers are probably not tech enough to realise.
Yeah I have a HP envy with a radeon 5650. It too has switching problems. However the reason is clear and the fix is pretty easy actually. Whats happening is some background program is using the GPIU at the time, you wantt o switch. With me it was GPU accelerated flash on a info/ad bar on windows live messenger. I always had the program on, the gpu (either integrated or dedicated) was always in use and so switching was a pain. I turned off win live messenger and took it off my startup list and haven't had a problem since.
Find the background application that is holding your gpu hostage and turn it off and you'll see your problem go away.
The ultrabook/laptops being shown at CES this year seem to be some of the most anticipated yet with better screens, revised features, etc. I'm still running on an emachines M6811 that weighs 7.8 lbs! Based on reviews here and some of my own research I've not been happy with many of the current mobile offerings. I mainly want around ~4 lbs or less in a 13" size with an i5 or comparable future IVB chip. Here's to hoping something out of this Samsung series or the new HP lineup fits the bill. I like what I see, though!
We would have liked to have seen something new from Samsung but alas, Samsung didn't ablige. The promised Win 7 slider would have been the greatest thing in the world of tablets and truly believe they'd have sold 10 million by this time but they have failed to follow through.

Finally a laptop manufacturer that seems to at least be considering the type of displays being used in their lower end lineup as well.Now let's abolish 1366x768 from any mobile over $500, it's safe to assume that any mobile LCD using this resolution is going to be pretty garbage.

An AMD GPU? That's unacceptable in a notebook with Intel CPUs until you can use AMD's normal drivers with it.
