Very nice to see that Lenovo's 16:10 choices are not limited to the X1 Nano! While I would have preferred the X1 Nano's 2160x1350 resolution on the X1 Carbon (the 2560x1440 resolution on my X1 Carbon is a bit too much for my eyes, and Windows scaling is still buggy enough to be annoying, IMO. 1920 is just not enough horizontal px, since a lot of split/snap applications greedily take up ~1050px horizontally), I'm still interested.
I missed it the first time around, but the mechanical docking connector is gone, now. This also means the NIC + RJ45 adaptor are gone. Oh, well. I guess we can use regular old USB ethernet adaptors.
Any idea what the resolution on the X1 Carbon's optional "UHD 100% P3 HDR400" screen is? Strictly speaking I think UHD is always supposed to be 16:9, so does that one not get a 16:10 screen, or are they going 3840x2400 or something and the above is just a loose description?
Top bezel to put the webcam and antennas (unless you like a nostril cam?) and bottom bezel for LCD electronics, connectors, somewhere to hold the laptop in tablet mode and to raise the screen upwards for better ergonomics. Large bottom LCD bezel also means some more freedom internally for components
The 3:2 displays are nice, but I'm still missing the old keyboard layout. This Thinkpad 25 won't last forever, just looking for one 7-row keyboard option before the warranty runs out. The Home/End PgUp/PgDn pod of buttons is extremely helpful for text parsing given their tactile feedback.
7-row's just not coming back to the bread and butter ThinkPads - the fact that the ThinkPad 25 is what resulted from that project rather than a return of the 7-row to the whole lineup should tell you everything you need to know.
My X1 Extreme, has the navigation keys, but not in the traditional places. It's still a pretty good layout. Home and End are next to the function keys, and PgUp and PgDn are next to the arrow keys
FFS they dropped the WQHD resolution from the Carbon X1 line just when I decided I had enough of my XPS 13 (3rd major repair). I really want at least 1440 vertical pixels, in fact ideally I'd like 3:2 with 2000 vertical px but that's another 3 generation before the Carbon X1 might adopt it. Do I really have to buy HP or Huawei to get decent vertical resolution in an ultrabook?
Both the X1 Yoga Gen 6 and X1 Carbon Gen 9 have the UHD+ screen which has 2400 vertical pixels. The screen is also very good, it even claims to cover 90% of the Adobe RGB space, and 100% of the DCI-P3 space. With the Iris extreme on the i7-1160 or 1180, it should be pretty good for photo editing
These are very impressive updates. The Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 9 and X1 Yoga Gen 6 look incredible. 57WHr battery, 16:10 screen with an optional super high gamut 3840x2400 screen, the new Intel 11th gen i7-1185 with Iris Xe, PCI Express 4.0 M.2 SSD!, 32GB RAM, and improve thermal management. Wow just wow. Can't wait to get a more-or-less maxed out X1 Yoga Gen 6.

Or take advantage of the TB3 port to plug in a Sonnet TB3 to 10Gb ethernet copper (1, 2.5, 5 & 10) or TB3 to SFP+fcth - Monday, January 11, 2021 - link

The product brief says that the UHD display is also 16:10. It does not have the exact resolution.Brett Howse - Monday, January 11, 2021 - link
Should be 3840x2400.cptcolo - Monday, February 15, 2021 - link
Correct, it is stated as 3840x2400 on the "Coming Soon" page for the X1 Yoga Gen 6: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/coming-soon/X1-Yoga-G...skavi - Monday, January 11, 2021 - link

No bezels = no durability. And I much prefer 16:10 to 3:2 because movies and games are made in ultrawide.

Weight is more important than thinness for laptop. That expensive x1 titanium will fail

Hell, the fact the ThinkPad 25 is a modified T480 rather than a modified X1 or X1 Yoga is *really* putting it out thereolafgarten - Wednesday, January 13, 2021 - link
