I bought a Galaxy Tab 8.4" LTE once, and never did get the Android upgrade released 8 months after purchase. I have an S10+ now, the battery kept running out by 6pm while I was on vacation, and it often takes many attempts to unlock - I hate the new under-screen fingerprint reader. It's hard being a tech nerd, as I'd so much like to be over and done w Samsung.
My XR battery life is insane. I can let it go for 2-3 days without plugging it in and still have about half a battery. Not heavy use, but not babying it along either.
Faster GPU? Wow... The Snapdragon 855 scored 16 fps, the iPad Pro scored 49 fps in Aztec ruins on high. The iPad pro's GPU is 3 times as fast as Samsung's tablet according to Anandtech. Not according to me, according to this website.
And even if the Tab S6 did have a faster GPU (which you're right, it doesn't), what would it be used for? Android on tablets has been abandoned by developers. If you want a tablet for production, go with an iPad, Windows or hell, ChromeOS.
it could be used with a 120hz screen, but Samsung didn't provide that either ;) bad GPU and low refresh rate, makes it not very compelling for the same price
So basically the iPad pro is the same price, the GPU is 3 times faster than the best Samsung has to offer in a product coming out 1 year later! I guess Apple was more than 1 year ahead, more like 2 or 3. "The importance of building your own silicon".
The sad thing is Samsung literally does design their own CPU and fab it on their own process. Exynos. And they have a huge amount of control over the OS but still 2 or 3 years behind.
Because BT earphones/headphones are crappy and overpriced, and that's a separate device to charge. You obviously won't understand if you haven't listened from proper CIEMs before.
Which is why I stopped buying the Tab S tablets after the S3. When it no longer holds up my only option will be an iPad (ugh iOS just blows). 4:3 is mandatory for me, otherwise the tablet is useless. I already have a TV for watching media, I need a tablet for reading.
With a well designed wireless charging dock, of course. Oh wait, no, it's not 2011. I will simply not buy another tablet until it has the same charging setup as the HP Touchpad. It works too well. I'm not fucking about with pogo pins or usb cables for a tablet.
Ever since I switched to magnetic charging cables I've determined that plugging in, with two hands, any device charged through USB is NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. GET REAL.
Does it have dual gps-l1 and l5 support? It does have the new Qualcomm 855 chipset and the new chipset is supposed to support or have dual GPS but does it? No mention in specs
$649 for the basic version? I just bought a new fully decked out Dell Inspiron 15 7000 laptop (i5 Whiskey Lake CPU, 256GB SSD, IPS FHD screen, 8GB RAM, HDMI 2.0, Win 10 Home) for $649!! Is this a joke?!? Who would pay that much for a measly tablet?
I have an 8" Samsung Tab S2 which I am very happy with. The battery has faded a bit and the speakers are poor but those quibbles aside, it has been a great "lay in bed" / travel device not least because of its light weight. If the S6 were available in 8" size, I'd be lining up for one.

I've got 2 of those Tab 8.4 LTEs. Awesome devices. The 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED screens are amazing.I'm disappointed that Samsung has abandoned the Tab S line in the 8" class. Nothing equivalent in display quality since 2014!!
The lower resolution screens on the Tab A series have no appeal to me.
Why does Samsung think we want bigger screens with lower resolutions than we are accustomed to using on our phones?

Might be able to use a third-party ROM on that 8.4" LTE, if you can unlock it.quorm - Friday, August 2, 2019 - link
Yeah, those early android versions are trivial to root, and then you can just put lineageos on them.p1esk - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link
I would really help if you provided side by side specs table with 11" iPad Pro.Alistair - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link
pay the same, but get half the CPU and GPU and half the refresh rate... very compelling /sAlistair - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link
i mean i would have been pretty stoked if Samsung had added 120hz to their tablet, but nope... sad face...fishman18 - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link

And on the display side, the iPad pro is only ok if you hate contrast. Some budget phone style display at that price point?Side by side the antiquated TabS has a better display, that's what- five years old now?
Wait, the stylus is extra?
So, for $130 more you get a better GPU and a significantly inferior display? Not sounding so hot.

No headphone jack is deal breaking Samsung. I own a TabS and a TabS 3, this probably would've been next but no headphone jack makes it a hard pass.MonkeyPaw - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link
Still a 16:10 display, which makes portrait mode just feel wrong. It needs to be 4:3 or 3:2. Otherwise it’s just an awkward-to-hold landscape tablet.fishman18 - Thursday, August 1, 2019 - link

Uh, a sheet of paper is closer to 16:10 than 4:3, why would reading be better on 4:3...?Some apps I completely get why, but reading?

Anyone know what type of USB C port it Is using for data transfer speeds?GreenReaper - Friday, August 2, 2019 - link
Phone Arena claims USB 3.1. It's a reasonable question as many actually only connect to USB 2.0.https://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-T...
If you want to be 100% sure I'd get it in writing from Samsung first. :-)
