It'd be helpful if you could reverse the direction of updates (newest at bottom). Reading updates that are written top-to-bottom in a bottom-to-top order is really confusing, at least to me.
That would put them even further behind. They should dump Siri and admit defeat. Cortana is more useful to me, but they should work a deal with Google as both are behind and not catching up. I am frequently astonished at how consistently terrible Siri is; it alone is reason to dump my iPhone.
> 01:53PM EDT - Understanding the full story- it's a lot of effort to bring together a lot of sources and to sum it up in its fullest.
Never heard someone copy someone else's work and then complain about how hard it is to copy completely.
We need real journalists who actually go to the place in question, and talk to the people there, etc. We have plenty 'news aggregators', and it's not solving a damn thing. Fuck Google News.
I am glad Anandtech has remained an original content author, and a quality one at that. This is what we need more of.
Sorry for the rant, maybe I am just pissed because of a youtube video where the person just read out pieces from other sites including here without doing any of their own digging.
>We need real journalists who actually go to the place in question, and talk to the people there, etc.
They do, and then they give a single individual's perspective to an editor who filters and releases what in all likelihood is anything but the full story. That youtube video is just another editor (and a bad one from what you're saying).
An article that sums up what happened when a bridge collapsed is dandy, but like you said we have plenty of those. A machine-written article on a divisive political issue? That's of great potential value. You could argue "well, go out and research!", but how many people can say with a straight face they go to news sources across the entire political spectrum and without bias absorb all the info there, then chase leads down endless rabbit-holes of falsehoods, half-truths, speculation, sensationalism, and manipulation?
Nobody.
I figure this feature will be complete garbage for the foreseeable future, but it's definitely more than youtube-kid regurgitating bbc.com.
"Google News initiative invests $300M over the next 3 years to collaborate with news outlets to improve the quality of news."
Where do you find news these days at all? There is nothing left but propaganda of some sort. You'd have to read about the same thing from several politically different sources to have a balanced view of anything now. NOTHING left which is just facts, without bias in selection of facts which are presented and which are hidden, biased commentary from the "journalists" and just general propagandistic BS (like repeating biased statements many times to distort perception, playing on most people's ignorance of basic math and science like implying a causation from correlation etc etc)...
Food pick up and delivery is something i am excited for. I hope they take instant feedback instead of going to https://mytellthebell.com and give your feedback about taco bell there

It makes sense when you're getting the feed of updates and then switching after the live blog is over.Ryan Smith - Tuesday, May 8, 2018 - link

Apple should kill Siri and rewrite her from the ground up. They’re so far behind it’s not even funny.Sivar - Wednesday, May 9, 2018 - link

That's seriously jaw dropping in some cases. Beyond what I was expecting."It's impossible. We are not there."
I cannot even imagine which kind of crazy repercussions and media frenzy this would have caused if was Apple doing it instead.
