So basically a 1080 without G5X? I'm amazed how many markets have been dominated by DRAM price this year. When will supply catch up to demand?
  • T1beriu - Monday, October 30, 2017 - link

    You missed the point.
  • Golgatha777 - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

I feel like if you're in the market for a $500 graphics card, you'll pay 10% more for 8% more performance and mature drivers, but that's must my opinion.
  • Golgatha777 - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

That said, if your goal is to beat the competition at their own price point, this does it.
  • CaedenV - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

10% more by MSRP price... but most 1080 cards are coming in closer to $550-700 range.
If these really do "only" cost $450 then they will be a very good deal

Back when I was getting ready to build my Ryzen system in March, I found an open box GTX 1080 for $420 at Microcenter. It overclocks well and so glad I was there at the right time.

I just got paid $6784 working off my laptop this month. And if you think that’s cool, my divorced friend has twin toddlers and made over $9k her first month. It feels so good making so much money when other people have to work for so much less. This is what I do... http://cutt.us/O5gex

Was it mentioned in the material so far whether or not the Founder Edition will be using the GTX 1080s vapor chamber heat sink or the GTX 1070s pressed heat pipe heat sink?
  • Ryan Smith - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

    No, it was not mentioned.
  • soliloquist - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

I too am interested in the answer to this question. Given the same 180W TDP as the GTX 1080 you would think it has the same cooling solution, but you never know.
  • Samus - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

It's a deal breaker if it isn't a vapor chamber, because that would effectively kill any overclocking success. Better off spending another $80 for a cooler that alone is almost worth that much, while yielding superior out of the box performance, and at least +10% overclocking potential.
  • HighTech4US - Friday, October 27, 2017 - link

Quote: The GTX 1070 Ti Founders Edition gets the same vapor-chamber cooler and five-phase "dual-FET" power-delivery subsystem as the GTX 1080 Founders Edition.

  • Nate Oh - Saturday, October 28, 2017 - link

Just to follow up on Ryan/HighTech4US, those reports are correct and it was later confirmed that the 1070 Ti FE has the 1080's vapor chamber cooler and power subsystem.

I wonder how long we'd wait for a review of this hmm...
  • luceri - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

I'm calling it: this is going to be an overclocker / enthusiast card. Need the price to drop 80$ to hit the sweet spot for it though.
  • eddieobscurant - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

vega11 is slower than vega10 and not otherwise , as the article suggests
  • Nate Oh - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

"Room to maneuver" does not suggest so, and conveys that the GTX 1070 Ti allows the option of moving the GTX 1070 down the stack to compete with Vega 11.

Can't help but notice the cavernous abyss that is the $299 - 409 area that now stands out even more.

    Markets are weird.
  • Communism - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Mining + Astronomical Memory Prices due to lockstep price fixing.

1070 was ~$350-370 USD before both of these cascading issues.
  • medi03 - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Never went below 400 Euro (and, why would it, with no competition)
  • Amoro - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

At least they're not screwing people over with Founder's Edition pricing anymore. Also, I wonder if this will be better for mining than the 1070...
  • BrokenCrayons - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Consumer purchases aren't compulsory so no one got screwed by FE prices. Buyers can look at the sale price of each GPU and decide if they want to pay the FE markup or not. For those that did spend the money on the Founder's Edition, the benefits they felt they were getting were worth the added cost.
  • HighTech4US - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Right now the FE prices are at a discount. GTX 1070 Ti FE $449 directly from Nvidia with free shipping. The custom aftermarket GTX 1070 Ti's start at $469 and only go higher.

I picked up a pair of GTX 1070 Ti FE's from Nvidia and plan to mine with them.
  • digiguy - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

may well go with this over the vega 56 as the perfect card for my 1440p 144hz freesync monitor, and screw freesync due to crazy pricing....
  • Amoro - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

It's $470 now on Amazon US which isn't terrible but still way above MSRP. But with overclocking the 1070 Ti should outpace the 56.
  • digiguy - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Here is Europe they are even more expensive... but the worst value is for the 1070. I remember when the 970 was the best value for money... now the 1070 is almost double the price of the 1060 6GB here... let alone vega...
  • angeringboy - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

    How about the mining profit?
  • HighTech4US - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Exactly. I picked up a pair of GTX 1070 Ti FE's from Nvidia and plan to mine with them.
  • blzd - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

Did you read the article? It says it is expected to perform the same as a 1070 mining since it has the same memory.

As it the MSRP should cost more than a 1070 it won't make sense for miners to pick this up. Instead this will be for gamers who want to avoid cards targeted by miners.
  • HighTech4US - Friday, October 27, 2017 - link

You seem believe that memory bandwidth is the only factor in mining. It is not and with the 1070 Ti having 27% more CUDA cores it will perform better than the GTX 1070. It will also hold up its value better than the plain 1070. For only $45 more the 1070 Ti is the better value.
  • Wolfpup - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

I'd still rather have bigger, but that is actually REALLY close to the 1080, where it doesn't feel like a joke.
  • lmcd - Thursday, October 26, 2017 - link

I saw this announcement after just purchasing a 1070. I thought I'd be disappointed, then I saw the TDP. No way this is going neatly into an ITX card.

    Wrong:

Quote: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Mini Graphics Card (Image Credits: Videocardz)

ZOTAC has really outshined the market in the recent years, offering various SFF graphics card designs that stand out from the rest. Their GTX 1070 Ti Mini will be one of them with a Mini ITX optimized design that utilizes dual fan cooling which extends out the PCB and has an aluminum heatsink design fitted with copper heatpipe dissipation system. The card looks great and has got a single 8 pin connector to boot up.

using a mini-itx gtx 970 card and looking for an upgrade. This looks perfect for 1440p gaming, but I'm going to wait and see what volta has to offer
  • milkod2001 - Friday, October 27, 2017 - link

Volta is at least 6 months away if not more due zero competition from AMD.
  • timecop1818 - Friday, October 27, 2017 - link

Still got that fucking DVI connector. Fuck off with that already, it's 2017

Just read a disturbing article about nVidia. I haven't seen the technology personally, and have not vetted this article, I am just passing it along. If it is true, nVidia will never get another penny of my money, as a patriot and conscientious person I cannot condone this behavior.

    https://www.activistpost.com/2017/10/nvidia-wants-...

As a person deeply troubled by the emergence of the "police state" in recent years, I can not and will not patronize any company that contributes to taking society down this dark path. I know there will be those who think this means nothing, or if you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't have anything to worry about. That's what they have you programmed to think, unfortunately. The real response is "If I'm not doing anything wrong, they should have no reason to surveil me."

    Good luck folks.
