The specs of these lower cost laptops are finally reaching a point where the system won't start complaining about a lack of free hard drive space after running Windows Update. It's nice to see 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage at the bottom end for a reasonable price. It looks like there's no cooling fan too with is something I prefer in a light duty laptop. Prices on the Win Pro version depending, buying one for travel seems like a no-brainer over lugging along a larger and more expensive notebook...at least where a phone isn't quiet enough for the task.
Anyway, the lineup and hardware seems decent at first glance but the the truth is the quad core with 8GB is supposed to be the one with Windows Home at $300. Lenovo can release 14-15 inch laptops with i3 or Core CPU at this price.
Any idea if the screen is TN or IPS? I cant find anything definitive on google, although it is not like kids would care about the screen brightness and clarity :/
Pro model looks interesting for a cheap luggable rugged laptop...
Funny seeing this and commenting on an 2x4 Octacore phone with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 128GB of UFS storage and a 1920x1080 OLED screen that costs €550... A One Plus 5 beating a laptop in just about any regard, certainly in CPU and GPS performance and efficiency...
I think I'd like the physical form factor, but when it comes to the insides, I'd want my phone guts in there, including Android, perhaps with a RemixOS launcher.
Phones have come a long way in recent years. I'd like to see an ARM-based laptop with specs similar to a flagship phone, but use the added internal space for a large, user-accessible battery. Android is good enough for the sorts of work this laptop will likely be asked to perform anyway. The only thing lost in the mix is the ability to run Windows programs.

Where is it stated that HD 505 has 12 EUs?hyno111 - Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - link
Should be 18 according to the ark page linked. The eMMC seems to be the bottleneck here (again). Unless Asus decide to throttle the cpu as much as possible..

I'd rather have a Chromebook than this thing. I bet it will still take 10 minutes to run updates between reboots.BrokenCrayons - Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - link

No edit... :( "..fan too WHICH is something..." & "...a phone isn't QUITE enough..." Ugh, I even read it twice before submitting.Hurr Durr - Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - link
I would readily get one for work if it had a physical Ethernet.rmm584 - Tuesday, August 22, 2017 - link

It is fine on an eleven inch display.Anyway, the lineup and hardware seems decent at first glance but the the truth is the quad core with 8GB is supposed to be the one with Windows Home at $300. Lenovo can release 14-15 inch laptops with i3 or Core CPU at this price.

On an 11" screen, that's acceptable.mkozakewich - Monday, August 28, 2017 - link
Maybe on an 8" screen. $100 tablets have had 720p at 7" or 8" for years and years, now. My latest $300 model has a 13" screen at 3000 x 2000.Ro_Ja - Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - link
My faster laptop from 2014 strugglea with some random hdd usage spikes.Goodluck with this.
mkozakewich - Monday, August 28, 2017 - link
Doesn't have an HDD, so it won't have the same problems if the random access isn't garbage. (With MMC, it's up in the air until we can test it.)WatcherCK - Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - link
