What was once the name for a family of pioneering high-end phones for Android and HTC has become synonymous with "budget phone". Sad. Why couldn't HTC have used the Wildfire name instead?
agreed. wildfire is a great name for the budget line. it could be so simple: "one" is their premium brand, "desire" is midrange and "wildfire" i budget. yet here we are with a "one" brand diluted to hell, even with plastic devices thrown into the mix, an overpriced "desire" range and now we even have budget "desire" phones, further dragging the brand into the dirt.
They are failing to consider the implications of using such a SoC today. All they are doing is damaging their image further. They need more focus on perf and reliability a lot more to fix their image. And they'll never get anywhere with this attitude, trying to skim a little bit here , a little bit there instead of a compelling strategy. Quad A7 is the new dual cores and this one is at very low clocks too, they shouldn't even be using any, unless they make a sub 50$ phone. The previous leadership ,as well as the current one were talking about marketing but they should be looking at their products first. That's what killed them, not the marketing. 10 years ago i could name more HTC models than i can now. Now they all look the same, pricing is never decent, nothing stands out so got no reason not to discard them from memory. It's hard to think when you are in a panic but it's either that or the end for them.
really. the only difference is the RAM, yet on one they go from 520 to 526 and on the larger they go from 626 to 626s, with the "s" indicating the lower amount of memory, because logic.
Really, HTC? You succumbed to this hell? Let me guess the price.... yes, still higher than xiaomi redmi and the boards will ponder why the hell their sales still plummet to underground.
HTS still has not learned. 4 products. Almost same spec. Launch only the 626 with an aggressive price. Save the effort of designing 4 platforms, combine volumes to get better prices, and pu the resources to use to provide long term OS update ...
Man you guys are crabby. I am new to the smartphone game, mainly because I have been in computers since 1979 and know how to get blood from a turnip. It has been simple for me: The old HTC's were the only phones that appeared to work worth a damn, so when I decided to buy a simple smartphone last month I picked of one of these Desires. It works fine. Stop trying to be snobs unless you have your own working phone phone design that you can upload here.
