Except, the iPad 2 is not $400. The cheapest one is around $700, the cost is just hidden in contract payments and for some reasons people like you are buying into that trick.
Yes it is "in fact $399" -- for not a fully featured product - the WIFI (only) iPad is great for home use or in dense populated areas (in the US probably and a few countries in the world in larger metropolitan areas), but not everywhere is blanketed by a WiFi signal so having a 3G or similar conectivity is a must if you want to use it to it's potential on the go -- so waving the lovest price without a feature that's not purely cosmetical is pointless
Regardless of WIFI or not. The IPAD2 is OLD technology/equipment. The ONLY thing the IPAD2 had going for it..For those buyers with blinds on.....is the draw of being an Apple product.

Without Apps, it would be a fairly boring device. Anybody buying other devices loses out on that entirely, and competing solutions like Android have a paltry selection of Apps designed for a tablet's extra space. This is why the iPad is cleaning up, shame some people seem still not to realise why.
Where does this fuckwit argument come from that the App Store is everything? When it was Mac vs PC the Apple fanbois certainly didn't think the Mac was a lesser machine for the dearth of software compared to Windows.
Android tablets will provide enough software to meet the needs of most users. The idea that you need a tablet version of an app for it to be useful stems from the Apple centric view that apps won't scale up well. In the Android world, apps are written to fit a variety of screensizes anyway. They scale up better. Tablet oriented apps would be ideal, but you're hardly going to cry because you can't have a tablet version of your favourite twitter app are you? Are you?
I'm still waiting to purchase a tablet that can full my needs. I only want to do web browsing and reading. I was so close to pull the trigger on the Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi, but I read many complaints about the lag that Tegra 2 shows in certain tasks, even with the ICS (CM9).
But when I heard about the Kindle Fire 2 and the possibility of a 10" version, I decided to wait a little longer to see which tablet offers me better performance / price ratio.
This Lenovo looks nice, but another factor that I care a lot, is the weight. Hope we see more details soon!

Seriously, the iPad or iPad2 do that perfectly. If you need cameras then the iPad2 makes sense. If you want an amazing display or play games then the new iPad is the best choice.
I can't speak to the Galaxy but I would say stop waiting for the perfect device, this field is going to keep changing rapidly each month for the next few years. At this point any of the good devices will be great to keep around for years as a web browser and you will want a second device in a few years anyway. If you are tied into the Amazon ecoverse then get the Fire, if not find a great price on an iPad2.
I don't need camera and I'm not planing to do gaming. I discarded the iPad because I already have an iPod Touch and the iOS to me is just plain boring. I love Android (using it now on my cellphone) and I think that is the way to go for me.
Just like their PC lineup, Lenovo also makes Thinkpad Android tablets, which are pricier, more feature-packed and better specced. I would set my hopes pretty high on an ICS counterpart than this tablet. Whether they plan to make a newer Thinkpad version is unclear, but the one they have now is excellent but generally shadowed by ASUS' Transformer, a fair shame.
