It could make sense on a SKU with a single channel memory controller, as it will boost bandwidth to almost what you'd get with a regular kit in dual channel. But that would be embedded, low end or mobile, none of which stack particularly well with uber expensive desktop modules.
There are certain retailers that will want this for their $8000 - $10000 builds. It'll have a binned processor and binned graphics cards and a ridiculous amount of watercooling fittings and items that light up.
3 times the price of 3200MHz LPX.. w-o-w. Looking forward to a review to show how much gain this brings. I assume this is for the person who has everything or is trying to reach benchmark records.
Intel cpu's don't really even benefit beyond a certain point anyway. At least in the DDR3 days you'd actually see some programs and games perform worse at DDR3-2400 versus DDR3-2133. Any gains in performance with DDR4 seem to top out at 3600mhz. Paying for anything faster is just lighting money on fire with the current generation of CPU's and architectures. Maybe we'll see faster RAM benefit Ryzen 2 or maybe Cannon Lake (or what ever is after Coffee Lake).

So is it CL19 23-23-43 or CL19 26-26-46 for the DDR4-4600 modules?DanNeely - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link
Looking at coverage elsewhere, 26-26-46. 23-23-43 is a likely copy/pasto from the similar G.Skill kit that was also announced recently.ddriver - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link
What is the point? I assume that will only run on intel chips, and there is barely any real world performance benefit from increasing the bandwidth.cwolf78 - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link
The point is these are very high margin parts and OEMs and their shareholders like money.ddriver - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link

The reviews on that are awesome.catavalon21 - Saturday, September 16, 2017 - link
But that one only has 2666 MHz memory in it. A bit surprising given its hype for overclocked components.hansmuff - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link

Come on, everybody can tell the difference between 143 and 144 fps... on 60Hz screen ;-)bill.rookard - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link
Now if only we could get our Ryzen systems up to that level. :-/Oxford Guy - Monday, September 25, 2017 - link
Don't worry. Anandtech downclocked 3000 rated RAM for Ryzen. Just because.Ej24 - Friday, September 15, 2017 - link
