It's always nice to give disabled people another option. I'm sure this will make a very small number of people extremely happy.

To bad Windows 10 Mobile development has stopped. If I had this feature on my Lumia 950XL, I could blink at my phone to activate the Snooze Button when my alarm goes off.
  • Diji1 - Monday, August 7, 2017 - link

Maybe a little too easy :p
  • Comdrpopnfresh - Sunday, August 13, 2017 - link

You would probably want it set so you have to blink a pattern. Otherwise, you'd never wake on time.

Well I for one think its great that Microsoft Insiders got to design Windows 10 and list all the features they wanted Microsoft to implement in this new O.S.

O.S. support for Facial tracking, fingerprint reading, voice analysis, keylogging everything you type, monitoring Skype communications and backdooring Bitlocker encryption is very important to the modern security consious comsumer these days

As insiders, we asked for DRM at every turn and demanded that Microsoft not be held liable for accessing anything they want on "our" computers

We demanded that Microsoft be allowed to profit directly from our loss
    We asked for advertising everywhere

    Screw National Security!

    We want backdoors on EVERYTHING!

Yes, comsumers are really getting screqed over. Even though it works fairly well for like a half billion people. Even though you can turn this stuff off, even though they don't actually run a keylogger in the true sense, even though you're full of it and trolling as usual. Even though Google is a far bigger offender and even pays for offline purchase information (they have their paws in 70% of credit card transactions). But yeah, MS is always the boogeyman with you.

excellent post. your check is in the mail as promised.

I'd bet anything you have a phone using that spyware OS ADroid and give gogle all the data they could possibly mine out of you with there """free""" spyware/tracking software without a second thought. Gogle must pay its shills well to spew this BS.

Steven Hawking may be happy, others, not so much.

Wondering how much could be better for everyone, if Microsoft got over their paternalistic views of development, and actually asked [then implemented] changes the user base wanted.

    kys.

If you actually read any of this, this has been in development mainly for disabled users that have limited ability to use their arms/hands. Imagine someone stuck in a wheelchair, or someone with extreme arthritis. Now they can perform basic functions on their PC just by using their eyes.
  • HomeworldFound - Monday, August 7, 2017 - link

Unless they have an eye or two eyes that point at completely different directions, then they're screwed.
  • Manch - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

Even if someone is wall eyed or cross eyed, it can still track.
  • Manch - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

According to Tobii, as long as you can maintain a steady gaze it will work with even one eye
  • name99 - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

    So what's your point?
We should never develop assistive technologies for ANYONE if they can't work with EVERYONE?
  • HomeworldFound - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

Nothing negative, I just remembered one of my teachers lol
  • Alexvrb - Monday, August 7, 2017 - link

Like all accessibility features, it's optional. Unfortunately, they don't offer something to help with your disability.
  • Manch - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

They're developing software to make PC use more accessible for disabled people using hardware readily available. Yet you're upset bc why? You didn't get a built FPS counter? You're an ass.
  • name99 - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

    Are you SERIOUS? JESUS!!!
I know people like me joke about how narcissistic and entitled some internet users are, but this takes things to a whole new level.
Never in my life would I have believed that someone could look at assistive technology for the disabled and complain "What a waste of time. What's in it for me?"
  • MrSpadge - Monday, August 14, 2017 - link

    +1
  • NXTwoThou - Monday, August 7, 2017 - link

With the whole Windows 10 everywhere concept...could it be they are trying to kill multiple birds with one stone? These sort of features might be amazing when it comes to their mixed reality offerings.
  • MrSpadge - Monday, August 14, 2017 - link

Yep, if this works well (and is pioneered as input aid for disabled) I can easily see it being useful elsewhere. Mostly in combination with some other form of input, though.

if finally MS adds a decent virtual keyboard (with proper CTRL, ALT and F keys) it would already be a great enhancement. right now my 5" cell phone running Teamviewer is more friendly to use than my 8" windows 10 tablet.
  • mkozakewich - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

Did you know about the hidden toggle in the Typing settings that enables the larger virtual keyboard?
(Or does 'proper' keys mean something else?)
  • marc1000 - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

thanks for the advice, I will check this toggle. proper means actually being able to use keyboard commands, like CTRL+ALT+INS (which is to send CTRL+ALT+DEL to Virtual Machines inside ESX for example). having arrow Keys and all that.

Am I the only one that thinks this could replace a mouse very easily for a lot of users? It seems like most of the time your eyes follow the cursor when using a mouse.

    Why not ditch the mouse?
  • BurntMyBacon - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

Nah. When I'm reading, I move my mouse out of the way.
  • Diji1 - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

    So what?
  • mkozakewich - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

The best thing about Microsoft is that they support so many input methods. You can even use voice commands to get around the system and type things.
  • Krysto - Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - link

Microsoft enables EyeSpy Control you mean.
  • Comdrpopnfresh - Sunday, August 13, 2017 - link

I guess we know Stephen Hawking isn't a fan of Macs now?

That's horrible- I apologize. I think this is a backdoor to onboard users to a new HID that can create a space for eye-tracking analytics to bloom.
