This looks to be one of the better notebooks due for release, with a good IPS multitouch screen, decent CPU and the ability to have >4GB RAM.
It is a shame that I haven't seen my perfect notebook as yet, which would be:
- 11" IPS Multitouch - A 7mm drive bay to allow you to upgrade the SSD yourself - User expandable memory - Thicker form factor to allow for the above & to ensure a decent battery capacity - A very conservative backlit keyboard that has a very standard layout without any extra keys (e.g. has the Ctrl key to the left of Fn and doesn't require Fn+something to access standard keys such as F1-F12) - A decent sized trackpad with physical left & right buttons - Good (but not excessive) build quality. - A reasonable price point
The Yoga 13's in 8 GB trim with the 256 GB SSD's have been on shipping status of "more than 4 weeks" ever since November 2012. I'd be shocked if the 11S in those options will ever see the light of day either. BTW, when are you reviewing any of the ultra convertibles?
What are your regular hardware online shops in which they are available? Lenovo.com must not be one of them, as shipping is shown as 4+ weeks for the aforementioned model and specs I'm looking for. I'd definitely purchase elsewhere if it's available.
Word on the intraebs shows that the Yoga 13 has an addition slot for an ADDITIONAL SSD so you can have a 128GB + 256GB SSD. The Crucial 256GB SSD that is said to work can be had as low as $170 but usually $200. There's also a replacement 8GB RAM stick at Crucial for ~60. There are instructions for adding these goodies to the base model but I am not sure how it affects warranty.
