Is there any builder that does high end systems in a nice boring metal case with no visible lighting? Not everyone wants their computer to look like a bling factory.
You yourself? I avoid the bling fans and lights as much as possible in every computer I build. I have yet to build one in 20+ years with a clear side panel, you couldn't see it anyway sitting next to my desk.
How is bling the challening part of building a PC when (almost) every product/component in the market is blinged up? Just grab buy some arbitrary random components; no worries, they will be full of bling and rainbow light effects. That's a challenge to you? ;-)
I guess i have to agree. This would probably as challenging as trying to find bling-less components for your DYI build. (That said, if one is still a proud and lucky owner of those vintage PC cases that are not glasshouses, then it wouldn't really matter that much if the components inside drown in garish eye-cancer-inducing disco lightshows...)

Builders specializing in silent PC like endpcnoise are probably what you are looking for. Performance = heat = noise. There used to be a few shops but PC has gotten a lot better with noises in recent years so I don't know how many are still around.
Boutique shops not doing bling have mostly disappeared because there isn't many variety of the core components anymore. And that performance has become a nonissue for all consumer PC tasks other than gaming.
The case styling is not at all to my taste. Like the person above, I would prefer a plain metal box sans windows and lights to cut costs on the container. After all, its the parts inside that do the work and there is noting special about that. Just install a decent CPU and video card atop a good motherboard with a properly sized power supply. Feed it enough RAM and reasonably fast storage and you have a computer that can play video games.
then you would be spending money on distro plates and acrylics blocks and chrome fittings. what would be the point as those features are for show. Also i am not sure why people bash this case. It is the Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL, one of the best larger ATX cases in market , its not some OEM case that maingear put together, they are just rebranding it.

I would not trust any of my local computer shops to put together a basic system that just used integrated graphics let alone a high end system.PeachNCream - Wednesday, April 1, 2020 - link
