I would've preferred the same screen size as the G5+, but with the new battery/CPU. The G7plus is nice because of the OIS camera. Shame. If they just had a G7power with the OIS camera it would be great. Higher resolution would've been nice, maybe tradeoff with a smaller screen.
How is 6 inch getting mainstream? This used to be a joke 5 yrs ago.
I hear people say this a lot, and I keep wondering what kind of pockets you and they have? I've got a mi mix 2s (5.99" screen, tiny bezels) and I've never had a problem fitting it in my pants pockets, whether jeans or dockers..
Yet another G series with insufficient water proofing. My last one had a muffled speaker and I hated Moto for not charging me $5 more for a water proofing that s***.
Have you been jogging with that phone in your pocket? For sport and one hand usage smaller 4.5" phone is superior. If i wear my normal clothes bigger phone is ok, but not when I am doing something activity!
For some people, these larger phones do not fit easily into their pockets *cough* skinny jeans *cough*. I jest, but it's a genuine issue for them.
For those of us with larger pockets, these larger phones can still be cumbersome. I use a Note as I love the stylus, but it's still a big surface area. Compared to my iPhone 5S and Sony XZ1 Compact, I can really notice the difference, as can other people.
Because of the elongated 19:9 aspect ratio these 6.2 inch phones are only the size of 5.5 inch 16:9 phones. The G7 and G7 Plus models are actually smaller than a 5.5" iPhone 8 plus.
I had (still have) the Moto X Style, it was magnificent because it had very decent hardware for the time (the same SOC as an LG G4), better front camera for video chat, good enough rear camera and unlike these new devices it had a high resolution screen, why on hell Motorola is using such a low resolution screen in 2019?
I have just bought a 32", 1440p monitor and the resolution seems fantastic. A 6" 720p display has three times the dpi. There are things where display improvement would be much better received - high contrast, inky black, high brightness, longer battery life, better framerate in some games.
3x the DPI, sure, but the desktop monitor is also viewed at (at least) 3x the distance, making it actually look sharper. Smartphone viewing distances are less than 1', monitor viewing distances are ~3', though often more at larger sizes. DPI alone is meaningless, DPI/viewing distance is the useful metric.
Motorola wants to charge $299 for a snapdragon 632 14nm? Why they dont put at least a snapdragon 710 10nm? I mean, xiaomi is selling phones with snapdragon 845 for $299 and motorola wants to charge you the same $299 for 4 times less the performance, what the hell is that?
Eh, it's got bezels. The current trend is to shrink bezels at all costs so because I blindly follow along with whatever is the in thing at the moment to dislike, I cannot endorse a product that has more than 5nm bezels.
Just a suggestion: also bold the display size difference of the g7 play? Surprised at the different notches in each model, but maybe for 2019 I shouldn't be...
Motorola sales have tanked in India from past year as the G series doesn't hold a candle against Xiaomi, Realme or even Oppo/Vivo at these price points. The phones are good but the value factor has been lost. They are not even in top 10 of the best value for money devices here. Samsung recently launched Galaxy M20 at $170-200 in India and that is way better than any of the above phones.
I think monopoly is the key word here as per contract and influence in some countries, motorola can do anything and people as they have no choice, can only buy these overpriced motorola phones.
Exactly, lately the Moto Gs are lagging behind in hardware with a higher price tag vs. Xiaomi. And honestly, I think for budget phones, Android One is a must.
Is the picture for the G7 Plus correct? The table says it has a secondary depth sensor in the back, but that picture only shows a LED + sensor combination.
So they've released another one before they even got the Android 9.0 update out for the G6, which itself was only released 9 months ago (and probably won't get that update at all now, going by Lenovo's awful track record with updating their phones since taking over Moto.)
Still, at least we have HMD/Nokia to fill the niche of 'relatively affordable phone that's well made, runs close-to-stock Android and gets updates for a decent period' - at least that's what I recommend when people are trying to buy such a thing.

the G7 plus with the battery of the G7 power would be the ideal combination imho.webdoctors - Thursday, February 7, 2019 - link

I'm also not a fan of the big screens. I much prefer something that fits in my pocket better, but I guess that's not the direction of the market.1_rick - Friday, February 8, 2019 - link
