SSD are generally quite able to get "hot" without throttle or failure compared to say HDD, but unless they have some sort of thermal pad etc top promote the "shell" to directly act as some sort of heatsink, not sure how good this will be for 2.5 inch drive life span (by all means SSD are noticeably cooler running 9/10 than spinning rust, but they are electronic devices which by their nature do not like heat over the long term, can lead to damage)

USB 3.1 gen 2 (assume standard C or A plug?) not a bad thing as long as the price is right, hopefully the connection point is "durable" enough as often makers cheap out on these things so they break easier than should be, no external power but then again USB3 of any sort (to best of my knowledge) do not need them (USB1 or 2 do however depending on device inside of it)

so likely is not directly "backward compatible", for this reason, maybe they should have allowed a second usb port for "power" so can use either in the desired usb3.1 and/or usb 2-1 ports as well ^.^

I've never needed external power or a 2nd USB plug just for power on any USB2.0 HDD I've purchased in the last ~ 10 years (500GB to 2TB, about 6 in total). :)

    A or C?

How is this not a vital piece of information to disclose in a news article describing a USB storage product?

As usual, Silverstone has a comprehensive manual that gives the necessary information:
    https://www.silverstonetek.com/downloads/Manual/st...
    It's USB Type-C.
