When will they give us what we really want: aftermarket RGB waterblocks for routers and modems

My K56flex data/fax modem agrees 100% with the idea of RGB water cooling. I also request that any buttons on the waterblock (and there should be at least 6 of them for the sake of looking cool) are backlit and feature Cherry MX switches. Power for the backlighting should flow through a 58-phase VRM and I will accept nothing less than solid caps. That'll make my modem rock the telephone line like a boss.

V.92 is better! I bet you're using a softmodem anyway!

Now, onto the important question: If you watercool your SSD, how many extra megahertz can you squeeze out of the controller cores??

Don't forget heatsink should be attached with high quality indium solder AMD style.

I used to put my tea on my old V.90 modem in order to keep the tea warm. Does that count as liquid cooled?

I need water cooler setup for my blu-ray reader/burner.

    "2x G 1/14"

    Should be "2x G 1/4"

    Thanks!

Well that certainly makes getting an SSD out of your computer a lot more difficult.

Is thermal throttling of SSD's such a major problem that it really requires this elaborate of a solution?
  • HomeworldFound - Thursday, July 20, 2017 - link

Nope, but people are going to buy it. In my time as a watercooler the only thing I haven't seen cooled is a floppy disk drive.

Why haven't you addressed that obvious oversight yet?
  • HollyDOL - Friday, July 21, 2017 - link

Well, they could still come with an idea to watercool a fan cooler ;-)

In some synthetic benchmarks which don't really replicate real world use then you do see some evidence of throttling which MAY justify one of those heat spreading stickers in certain use cases and is definitely a reason to ensure your case airflow doesn't leave a dead spot over the drive. As for watercooling.... err.... maybe if you're in a volcano and the ambient temperature is a little too toasty?
